Ways to not make it dead:

1.) Follow people.
2.) Engage in other people's posts.
3.) Use hashtags. They don't demote posts here.
4.) Browse hashtags.
5.) Post more often! (PostyBirb is a great tool for posting art to multiple sites)

Seeing so many people claim "Mastodon is dead" when they only come here like only once a month, to post art, then hop off. And not engage at all. Or use hashtags.

You gotta follow people, engage with the community, follow feeds, etc.!

Some tips for furries coming from Twitter:

2.) Use hashtags so people can find your content better! Hashtags don't demote posts like Twitter.

I feel like one thing folks need to stop doing is shaming folks for still living at home with family.

Some can't afford to move out right now. Or some choose to stay, to take care of a family member.

You never know someone's circumstances, so don't shame them for being over 30 and still at home.

It's funny how the furry fandom works.

You can point to a character and be like "yeah that animal is me".

Also the serotonin you get when you get artwork/physical items of your animal. Amazing.

Then when you go to conventions you see people and it's like you've known them your entire life.

Somedays I get annoyed with this fandom, but majority of the time, I'm grateful and extremely happy to be here. 🥰

Mek and I just finished weighting my Sleepytime Dragon plush by CreepCat. It's pretty chungus, weighing in at 5 pounds! We poured pellets into socks and tied them, and stuffed them inside the body. My first weighted plush, too! 😊💜🩵

For furs new to the fandom and going to their first con:

Parties and drinking do happen at cons. But do not feel like you HAVE to participate in drinking/partying to fit in, or to "be a furry"! You can say no!

Seen so many young furs get blackout drunk at cons; just know you're not required to!

@philpem Probably. I finally found a group I'm comfortable with, who respects my boundaries and don't push things or guilt trip. I went through the worst to get to the best.

The biggest way to reconsider a friendship with me is having someone around who guilt trips or tries to manipulate me, nope not happening, bye. lol. Dropped someone who did exactly that. I don't tolerate it.
