Been trying to remember how I even discovered Macstodon lol.

Seems like I can’t remember that far back

When was the last time you people ever used a USB-B cable?

Here's a poll for you all of the , and beyond:

Do you believe in unrestricted access to all types of information on the internet such as textbooks for everyone?

Edit: When I made this poll I forgot to specify what sort of information I meant. In this context I meant like textbooks, academic articles and etc

On August 25, 1991, Linus Torvalds, introduced the world to Linux through an online post. Linus Torvalds developed the kernel, initially shared as source code, and later as bootable floppy disk images, becoming much popular years later!

Early distributions included Torvalds's "Boot-Root" images, MCC Interim Linux, Softlanding Linux System (SLS), H.J. Lu's "bootable rootdisks," and Yggdrasil Linux/GNU/X, a commercial distribution.

Can someone tell me how filters work on #Mastodon because I made one and I’m still getting trump in my feed

Since most people said they don’t use Adobe software, what’s a good alternative for Dreamweaver that has GitHub support and a live preview?

I’ve looked at some but they don’t all seem that great as they’re either paid or freemium

SinclairSpeccy, to debian

Let's see how this goes.

What was the first version of you ever used? This can count for distros too that are based on Debian.

My first usage of Debian was using Mint. Was one of the distros that runs well on my iMac after I removed Lion from it

67 years ago on October 15, 1956, The programming language FORTRAN, short for "Formula Translation," was introduced to the public.

It was the first general-purpose, compiled imperative programming language, originally developed by IBM in the 1950s for scientific and engineering applications. FORTRAN gained popularity and became a vital tool in scientific and engineering applications

Am I one of the few people who misses physical cash? With buying online it makes sense not to have physical cash but in person? I dunno.

I miss feeling physical coins, bank notes and thinking that I’m not overspending.

“But Sinclair, you can overspend with physical money too!”

I know you can, but it’s called not giving into your impulses. I like physical money as much as I like physical books, but I need to get more physical books…

Thinking about getting a Mac desktop tower that’s an older one but any recommendations? I’m looking for something that I can have Mac OS 9 and OSX on at least, but could be Hackintoshed to Mac OS 9, an old Mac OS X version and something like El Capitan?

I know OpenCore is a thing but I guess I could use Rosetta under Panther or something

Today, thanks to @synergyeclipse30, I found out about the Commocoffee 64!

That’s right! In the mid-1980s the Italians made this computer do the task of making a cup of coffee. It was probably just a coffee maker without a built-in timer, which could be plugged into the datassette port of a C64, using the machine to do the timing

It feels weird to have graduated from high school. I suddenly feel like I have all this free time but I don't know what to do with it all besides sleep

Thinking about how when I was a little kid, they acted like everyone on the internet is suddenly some creepy old dude yet in reality, people on the internet can be the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

Just because you haven’t seen them in person, that doesn’t mean they aren’t a real human being

Damn, I should emulate just for the sake of it, but it’s kinda hard to not associate that OS with someone who was a jerk to me :’(

You have gazed into the hypnotic depths of the SPARCcenter 2000E, and now you're on a mission: Going back to 1997 to snag one of these bad boys!

SPARCcenter 2000E: the powerful, scalable, expandable enterprise server. Whether you need support for one division, your entire business, or anything in between, the SPARCcenterN system is always the right size for your client-server environment. That's it's an open, easily expandable, affordable system with the power to run mission-critical applications. In fact, this is the ideal platform for rightsizing from a mainframe. SPARCcenter 2000E is at the high end of Sun's family of servers. They all run the Solaris' operating environment, and some of the SPARCcenter 2000E system's exceptional power is a direct result of the multiprocessing capabilities of Solaris. Every time you add a processor, you dramatically increase database, application, and network file service performance. But that's not all you get from those extra processors, because Solaris also supports multithreading, which runs a single application in parallel, with lower overhead and better scalability.
An ideal partner for your existing computing environment. We're in the business of creating innovations to help make you more competitive, but we also understand the need to protect your current investment. So the SPARCcenter 2000E can be integrated into the most complex multivendor environment. Along with the superior networking capabilities of UNIX,' we support every leading network protocol for host-based or client-server processing, making it easier to transparently access the data and applications on your mainframe, minicomputers, and PCs. You can also choose from the leading relational database management systems, programming tools, end-user applications, and networking products. That means you can keep using your existing hardware and software, reducing retraining costs.

Been sitting here thinking about how much I want a Raspberry Pi to do many things, like fun hacky stuff.

What stuff do the people of the #Fediverse and #Mastodon use their Raspberry Pi’s for?
