Moving over to another server and does anyone know why this is happening? Is it because my old server was on version 4.0.6 and my new one is not?

EDIT: Nvm I was importing the wrong file

The cool mods and admins of oldbytes.space approved my account! You can find it over at @SinclairSpeccy!

I just need to move everything over to the new account

@SinclairSpeccy @SinclairSpeccy Don't forget to save a file with the accounts you're following, as you'll need to follow them again from your new account. You can save the file from the settings of your old account, then use it in the settings of your new account.

@metin @SinclairSpeccy Yep, I'm going to do that too!

Edit: How do I do that? My exports are giving me errors "Invalid CSV file. Error: Illegal quoting in line 1." ๐Ÿ˜…

Does anyone know of any up-to-date tech instances that have Threads blocked? Was considering moving to another instance that is more update to date like oldbytes.space if it has Threads blocked :P.

There's a bit of irony in my comment as I use Facebook but that's because my family uses it and they won't let me escape it

Due to suggestions I'm gonna put info about old and obscure OSes I find on my website using MkDocs instead of writing for .

I know MkDocs is more geared towards project documentation but I think it will work for the time being, unless anyone has software that could work instead of MkDocs as it has the option to search... which will be much better than users struggling to find the page manually with my shitty GitHub pages site.

Let's see how this goes as time moves on?

(1/2)

SinclairSpeccy,

@breadbin Well, Iโ€™m using MkDocs as of now to make it more organised

Kinda wanna write some articles for old Linux distros people havenโ€™t really heard of.

I added an external link to the page at least that has iso format of Yggdrasil Linux images.

Kind of worried about doing something wrong though, like whether a page I made is actually worthy or not. Like Storm Linux for example. Thereโ€™s no page on that but there is for the company that made it.

EDIT: See this: https://bitbang.social/@SinclairSpeccy/111594654269253020

DialupDownload,

@siliconundergro @SinclairSpeccy I second this. Focus on your own blog first for permanence / owning the content fully. Distill into Wikipedia later, let the idiot mods have their day if they want youโ€™ll still have your own site and writing you control.

SinclairSpeccy,

@DialupDownload @siliconundergro My current layout of my site is weird so I wonder if I need to change it up to make it presentable at least ๐Ÿ˜…

48 years ago on December 16, 1975, IMS Associates began shipping its IMSAI 8080 computer kits.

Originally shipped as kits for assembly by the user, the IMSAI 8080 gained popularity, and eventually, the company shifted to producing fully assembled units.

In total, between 17,000 and 20,000 units of the IMSAI 8080 were manufactured.

Subsequently, an additional 2,500 units were produced under the Fischer-Freitas name

@dwgumby What a pretty machine โค๏ธ

Wtf itโ€™s been a few days since I got my fillings and now I canโ€™t eat properly as it hurts where the tooth that got the filling is. Does this mean Iโ€™m gonna need a root canalโ€ฆ?

Tried to eat chips at least two days ago and it hurt and now it eats to eat my sandwich which isnโ€™t even that hard or aggressive on my teeth

siliconundergro,
@siliconundergro@ioc.exchange avatar

@SinclairSpeccy sometimes it means the fillings aren't lining up with the teeth opposite them. The dentist should be able to correct that.

SinclairSpeccy,

@siliconundergro Thatโ€™s weird. Youโ€™d think they would put that into thought when they were fixing it, no?

I know they said that my cavity was near the root of my tooth

DialupDownload,

SinclairSpeccy,

@DialupDownload Maybe thatโ€™s the caseโ€ฆ oof

29 years ago on December 15, 1994, the first version of Netscape Navigator released.

Inspired by the success of the Mosaic web browser, Netscape Navigator was developed by Netscape Communications. Netscape Navigator aimed to capitalise on the commercial potential of web browsers. Initially offered without charge for all non-commercial users, it quickly gained popularity.

In the mid-1990s Netscape Navigator became the standard web browser, until IE cane alongโ€ฆ

A screenshot of a Windows setup window for Netscape. The main window is titled โ€œNetscape Setupโ€ and contains a smaller window labeled โ€œNetscape Setup: Welcomeโ€. Inside the smaller window, thereโ€™s text instructing the user on how to proceed with the installation or cancel it. Two buttons are visible at the bottom of this inner window: โ€œContinueโ€ and โ€œCancel Setupโ€. The cursor is hovering over the โ€œContinueโ€ button. The background is a gradient blue with a large title reading โ€œNetscapeโ€ at the top.

Love how I got a filling two days ago, eat some chips after those two days and now my tooth that had the filling hurts.

They specifically said wait like two hours before eating food ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Interesting to think that years ago with retro computers and all that kids built with computer kits and such but then it died outโ€ฆ only for this kind of thing to come around again with STEM projects.

Kinda wish I could build my own computer of scraps like itโ€™s a 8800 machine lol

breadbin,
@breadbin@bitbang.social avatar

@SinclairSpeccy Iโ€™ve never built a computer kit:)

They werenโ€™t cheap back then afaik. And tools werenโ€™t exactly around as easily as today, nor instructions.

Thinking about how for school I had to research a "leader" whether it was a political leader, sporting leader or business-minded leader.

I picked Sir Clive Sinclair as I didn't know what to do at the time, but now I am wondering what other people could have worked. Steve Wozniak? Jack Tramiel?

jaruzel,

@SinclairSpeccy Jobs was the businessman, Woz was the techie (In my opinion: No Woz == No Apple)

Many people loathe him, but Alan Sugar was a good Business leader. I say was because he never moved with the changing times, and is now mostly irrelevant.

breadbin,
@breadbin@bitbang.social avatar

@SinclairSpeccy Leader can make it tricker, since many werenโ€™t. Woz certainly wasnโ€™t. Jobs was (so recommend folklore.org if you want to hear what the people who were there havenโ€™t say). Grace Hopper wasnโ€™t a leader, but she was super badass and interesting for sure.

If you had asked me, I would have suggested Dag Hammarskรถld, because few know of him today, but more should. His death changed so much of our world today, and not for the better. :(

Or if tech, Cray. Interesting mad scientist.
