In the middle of reviewing a portable battery I was sent capable of up to 100 watts! 20,000 mAh currently recharging my work laptop from near dead. It runs a little warm but well. I’ll have the full review on my and try and also put it on at @chiefgyk3d and talk about it a bit on for my portable soldering iron

    Surreal - residents of Rostov stroll around and watch the Wagner fighters take over their city... No opposition yet seen!

    @Free_Press Russian apathy is legendary. It's a lot of the reason the absurdity that is the Russian government has been able to become what it is today.

    Suggestions on Mastodon accounts to follow? I'd love to be able to keep up with the rapidly-developing batshit situation in right now without having to spend so much time on

    This is a sincere question. I'm not asking it from any perspective. I just want to see how people answer this.

    Can you explain why having your instance block a domain that you and others don't like instead of blocking the domain yourselves is preferable?

    Thank you in advance.

    ScottTheGeek,
    @ScottTheGeek@twit.social avatar

    @Mrfunkedude Some instances try to make themselves appealing by defining a "standard" of the sort of instance traffic they're willing to federate with. It's how some try to differentiate themselves.

    Wow. Red Hat cutting back RHEL source availability: CentOS Stream will now be the sole repository for public RHEL-related source code releases. For Red Hat customers and partners, source code will remain available via the Red Hat Customer Portal. https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/furthering-evolution-centos-stream What do you think?

    It is WILD that you can get a 4TB NVMe SSD on Amazon for $150 right now. I paid $100 more than that for one in NOVEMBER.

    ScottTheGeek,
    @ScottTheGeek@twit.social avatar

    @ernie has been charging 5-10 times commodity pricing for SSD storage for many years now. That's the main reason they started soldering on the RAM and not allowing you to upgrade it with standard RAM. There's nothing technologically superior to the RAM chips/system they use.

    This is dumb. According to this web site I have read “38 of 3 free articles this week.” How is that even possible? As far as I know, I have never even been to this site this week, or possibly ever!

    Silly paywalls! I mean I get it, but I don’t get it.

    @tojikomori As someone who repairs these things I can assure you that it's possible to have replaceable batteries AND water-proofness. Don't believe the BS that the manufacturers try to sell you in order to ensure you're beholden to them for all things.

    The Samsung Galaxy S5 was IP67 rated and had a removable battery, MicroSD card slot, and headphone jack.

    A better waterproofing rating could be obtained with a screwed-on back panel and gasket. But phone manufacturers are lazy and would rather you buy a new phone when the battery wears out.
