my characters are talking to me again and they have a lot to say but this is revealing a flaw in my new workflow. before it was re-read the story a few times, like revving up an engine, attempt to take a nap, fail at that, and if they suggested something, go back to the text, find a place to fit it into and write.
but i ran out of places to fit things into and i've reread it enough i'm a bit blind to it so i've started revving up on other bits and then writing. and now nothing fits.

My characters, found family of 3 vampires, a firing breathing imp & 2 mortals, have a brief interlude of #RPG ing in their OTT chaotic manner. They're playing a party of orc thieves who fail most of their saving throws.
Important elements are chaos, family and the dice cup.
I want to replace orc with something less parallel to racism but the only other option I can think of is going down a different route of stereotyping (like the dumb jock stereotype as spellcasters).
Classifying people sucks.

Then they looked at those numbers closer, and realized. Linux users were not experiencing more bugs. Almost none of the Linux-user bugs were Linux-related. Linux users were simply more likely to file bugs.

Their conclusion: A linux port pays for itself bc it nerdsnipes ppl into giving u free QA

so i've been trying to come up with a hobby character can do that's just his (his 200+ year old immortal brothers who do not fear death or bodily injury as they really will live forever laughed at me when i dared suggest they weren't going to join him in mountain biking). i want it to be a physical means of expression, but not drawing. figured it out tonight-sculpting in clay which is suitably messy. plus his fire breathing brother in law, who may be older than calendars, can see to the firing.

Writer hive mind: I have a character (young man, mid 20s) whose means of expression is primarily physical. He needs a hobby besides pranks, rough housing and chasing around with his brothers (199 & 243 year old teenage boys. They're vampires. He's not.)
Art seems ideal but there's a reason to not use that if I can find something else.
He and his brothers have a band. Their philosophy of music does not involve practicing.
Need something that is just his. He's not telling me who he is yet.
