Tech press giving Bluesky the same treatment they gave Mastodon/fediverse after covering it in a positive light for ten minutes back in 2022. So fucking predictable. I'm not pleased with Bluesky sucking up all the decentralized social media oxygen these past several months. I mean AP fediverse didn't even get a mention in this article at all. But the "oh well I guess we just have to keep kissing Musk's ass and use Twitter" coverage is bullshit too. Ironically one of their complaints was a same one they had about Mastodon: not enough virality of shitposting content and doomscrolling. Yes, that's what the world needs :eyeroll:. Ironically they also complained that Bluesky is too much like the UX people are used to on Twitter so too boring. Meanwhile that's the opposite of their complaint about Mastodon which was just way too confusing to figure out...or something. I guess their Goldilocks zone for social media is Twitter, Tik-Tok, and Facebook/Instagram. How original Wired magazine. How very fucking original. #rant #fediverse #BigTechShouldNotExist

@notroot @hankg This is exactly that. Most of the tech press feels it needs to kiss some tech bro's ass (possibly a billionaire) to be relevant. And probably hopes for something in return.
If there is no charismatic leader, the tool is worthless to them.
It was obvious with Mastodon, but it's even more so with BlueSky. It was the future of social media when it was for a happy few and Dorsey was around. Now he's gone, it's becoming decentralized, so it's worthless too for them.

J'ai commencé par éclater le « j'ai rien à cacher » avec la porte des toilettes.

Puis j'ai rappelé l'histoire de l'avortement aux États-Unis, qui est devenu illégal du jour au lendemain avec des conséquences dramatiques pour trop de femmes.

Very quick crow update: They're doing well. I'm not always too sure about Mr. Crow. He seems okay in terms of behavior, but both his wings are damaged and he has trouble gaining altitude quickly. But at least, he doesn't hide in trees anymore and approaches me more and more. Sadly I've had little time for them lately (but soon, it'll be daytime when I return home in the evening).

Does anyone have advice to replace the new "free" Outlook that's replacing Windows Mail?

For once Microsoft had built an awesome app, and of course, they have to kill it and replace it with what basically is bloatware.

Has Thunderbird become usable? Any other good simple and useful mail client that you know of?

(preemptive warning: not telling me to move to Linux is not "advice")

@markmccaughrean Thanks for sharing the story. Yes, in this day and age, I don't see the point of doing it behind closed doors. But Japan is different regarding such things. Keeping appearances matter, especially in case of failure.

Crow update: I went to the park earlier for the first time in a few days (I spotted Ms. Crow on her favorite utility pole (both a great lookout pole and the best pole to catch my attention if needed.)
I threw a peanut, and... not one but two crows came down! Mr. Crow was hiding in a tree but instantly came down.
And look his feathers seem to be regrowing!!! That's awesome news.

Crow update.
I hadn't seen Mr. Crow in a few days. I was starting to get worried. However, Ms. Crow has been around, and I assume that if something bad had happened to Mr. Crow, Ms. Crow would be wherever it happened (have you heard of crow funerals? I witnessed one last summer).
Anyway, I saw him this morning, still mostly hiding but maybe he's getting a little better.

Crow update: Ms. Crow stayed around the house most of the day. She ate quite a few peanuts. She's getting used to picking up peanuts in my yard and even balcony (and even eating them in my yard at times) but... as long as I'm not there or very far.
