You'll recall a post yesterday about a man whose refusal to help his #female partner out of a scolding bath led to her death, being given a suspended sentence.... now, here's the other side; for stealing a phone an indefinite custodial sentence....
There's obviously more going on here, but the temptation to say a #woman's life is worth less than a #mobilephone was to great for me to resist (sorry).... and the point (even if exaggerated) remains!
Another day, another man causes the death of a #woman but is given a suspended sentence because his actions on the day were a lapse from his normal attentive relations with his partner...
So it would seem to the Judge, her death was less important than his, 'normal' behaviour.
Its pretty clear that the legal system is patterned by a difference in attitudes to women's and men's lives.....
The Q. might be what would have happened if the roles had been reversed?
A topic that is very close to both Irini's and my heart. She wrote the text and I provided the picture.
There are many women and men who are beaten and abused by their partners.
Please don't look away.
Do intervene.
Help if you see something like this because you too are guilty, if you do nothing even though you can see it and in my eyes it is as if you are participating.

This is crazy to me. I mean I don’t understand why people live in Florida in the first place, it’s always humid and disgusting and a sinkhole could open up at any moment and swallow your whole entire entire house. But this is crazy.

People's individuality comes out beautifully in the music they like, the artwork they gravitate toward, the clothes they prefer, the food that gives them pleasure.
How limiting the world would be if we all thought and believed exactly the same. 100 percent agreement isn't only unrealistic, it's also rather dull.
Some people spend too much time in front of the mirror, others none at all. That's our outer appearance; it changes with time, and there's not much we can do about it.
But our inner self -- that we can change, for better or worse, as we examine what we believe, how we act, where we want to go in life and how we expect to get there.
High tech, gleaming chrome, minimalist and grey is a trend in some quarters, but not in others. It is a testament to our unique individuality that we gravitate toward what pleases us, what brings us joy.
And for some, it's a joyous explosion of flowers and ruffles, soft fabric and quiet pastels.
