Quick heads up: Kitten’s installer/downloads will be offline for a few minutes as I recreate kittens.small-web.org (the site that new Kittens are deployed to when they’re born) as it was originally on Ubuntu and sites deployed by Domain are now using AlmaLinux. Also, I am setting Kitten’s API version to 0 (it was initially set to 1) to signal that it is prerelease. When the version is back to 1 it will be because API version 1 is stable.

PS. If you’re wondering what Kitten and Domain are:

They’re the little tools I’m working on to make the Small Web¹ a thing that exists.

Spent the morning fantasizing about non-horrible ways to get funding for a dev tool project, and ways to implement it.

Not sure if this is good (yay, ideas!) or bad (boo, I can't do it, I have to work at my day job).

Anyone know any gamedev sugar daddies/mommies? gaben, are you on Masto?

Help me identify this thing I own.

I do not know where it came from.

My best guess is that it could be for flattening large eyelets??

Incidentally, if any local bod accidentally left this at mine, you can have it back.

I would give it to charity, but I doubt they'd know what to do with it. It's pretty solid and would be a waste to throw out.

[Edit:] question answered - apparently it is for eyelets.

The two cylinders separated. You can see the bigger cylinder has a cone shape protruding from the top, while the smaller cylinder is hollow and has a slight lip around the edge.

One of the instructions with regard to cleaning a bench grinder…

‘Do not submerge the machine in water or spray it down with a hose.'

😆

You know that must have been done and reported a few times to put that in there.

It reminds me of an old Disston saw manual where the company chides saw owners for the very poor treatment of saw plates and teeth.

Also that Disney info-animation about tool care, that was floating around recently, and it’s main tool antagonist, Primitive Pete.

After hours of calibrating the Mitre saw and almost losing my mind over it, it is done.

No wonder I struggled with this saw. The calibration was maxed out and I had to file the elongated holes in the fence longer to actually get it true. Plus, aligning the blade to the slot first was a real hassle. Eventually made a spacer with good result.

Then it checked out at 90° but not at 45° until I realized this red square had a problem too. You can probably spot it!
