Did you know you can easily search through your own Mastodon posts?

Just include from:me in the search field.

Instead of this, you can include in:library to show posts you have interacted with or written yourself.

If you want to search through posts of a specific user, include from:username (the full username, including the instance)

If it doesn't work, have a look at this:

Cool KDE Plasma Tip: Quickly access task manager apps with [Meta] + [number]

@kde's task manager usually lives in the panel located by default at the bottom of your desktop (see attached image).

Quickly open or display apps shown in the task manager by holding down the [Meta] (aka "Windows") key and hitting one of the number keys at the top of your keyboard.

Reach the first app on the left with [Meta] + [1], the second from the left with [Meta] + [2], etc.

This is how we wash and freshen our rag rugs in #finland in the #winter. #tip #suomimastodon
It's important to leave the rag rug for a while outside before you wash it with the snow. It must be cold so it doesn't get wet. The snow doesn't melt.

Working fullstack in all kinds of languages sometimes leads me to momentarily forget the dependencies of each project. e.g. how was it that we run the tests in this project or what are the right commands to install dependencies, do I need to start a docker compose before running the app etc.

That's why most of my projects include a Makefile where I always keep a standard set of tasks: make setup, make dev, make test, make build, make publish + additional tasks as the project requires.

Finished The Terror season 1. A grim, gripping series, with impressive art direction and wardrobes, convincing performances, and Ridley Scott as an executive producer. Recommended.

I haven't seen The Terror season 2 (yet) though. It's a separate story, and I noticed that it has received lower ratings. But I enjoyed season 1.

#Beekeeping #tip of the day: switched to #Castile #soap for washing my hair, have had great lack of reaction from bees. (sometimes they got annoyed at the floral scents the random-shampoo-on-sale that I was using). They also particularly hate some of the strong scents my son has on soap bars (he has not switched yet, though...)

Random #tip for using the #Fediverse: not everyone is going to like you, or agree with you when you post something--just like in real life (or on other social networks)--stop expecting everyone to be exactly like you. That is what mute, block, filter is for. Also, if you're very sensitive to that, post "followers only" and NOT public, and block/remove people that annoy you. (this is not aimed at any one person or thing, just an observation of various gripes going around).

A little unconventional #coding #tip:

Always copy and paste code. At least at first. Don’t overthink it.

And: Don’t start refactoring right away.

Why?

Because you might think you’re creating almost similar behaviour but you don’t know that really until you actually customise what you pasted. Refractoring based on the assumption of redundancy instead of the fact of it is premature refactoring. Once you’ve specialised your pasted code, then look for redundancy and then refactor.

Consider how your game's cards will be held in hand. Some edges remain visible with diminishing visibility the further you get to the opposite edges. You can use this to your advantage by putting critical in-play icons and text close to the more visible corner. Endgame or conditional info can be discretely tucked into the other corner.

I figured to write a little thread, sharing what helps me to decrease anxiety, depression and OCD…

• Take time for daily outdoor walks or other exercise. This helps your brain to process and solve things, and increase white matter.

• Eat healthy. No hard-to-digest food, heavily processed food, sugary stuff, etcetera. Your gut is intricately connected to your brain via the nervous system and gut bacteria. "You are what you eat."

Let's get this straight... I'm supposed to my Apple Genius - who works inside in the air conditioning and makes well over min. wage, but no one is complaining that the majority of grocery stores forbid the person who helps you unload your groceries into your car, takes the cart back, and works in literally 100°F (37°C) heat in Florida to gather up carts of people who are too shitty to care where they leave them? 😳

🔔 One great when working with notifications:

Clear them as soon as the state changes. https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/notifications/notifications-basic#clearing

For instance, if you get a notification when the washing machine is done, clear it when someone opens the machine door. This avoids unnecessary noise for other Homers!
