A friend asked me about what #musicals and plays her recently stage-struck daughter might want to see. I was full of ideas, and I found this excellent summary of #theater performances available on the various streaming services. Enjoy!
It's the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet, except that it's Romeo on the balcony, and Juliet is a male stagehand. And there's beer. #vintageAd#gay#beer#theater
After an excellent sold-out theatre performance in Bremerhaven-Lehe last night, I was back home at 02.00 this morning and, as my body clock has total control of my waking life, awake, if not up, at 05.00. A theoretical lie-in of an hour.
Sunday is laundry, paperwork, relaxation, all of which are now well and truly underway.
Question for the theater folks: Is there any free open source software that helps manage auditions and casting, including paperwork, headshots, resumes, etc?
Searching for software for "casting" only returns stuff that lets you cast video to your TV.
Searching for software for "auditions" only returns Adobe Audition (an audio suite).
This is like finding a needle in a stack of needles.
As an extension of having really gotten into #audiobooks lately as somebody who doesn't drive and walks or rides the bus everywhere, the next nerdy thing I want to get into is radio plays. I found a collection of episodes of the original The Shadow series and have started researching BBC productions and radio play style podcasts too.
If anybody has any recommendations please let me! Especially into like #horror and #scifi
Actor Louis Gossett Jr., Oscar and Emmy winner, has died at age 87, according to his family.
AP reports: "Gossett broke through on the small screen as Fiddler in the groundbreaking 1977 miniseries 'Roots,' which depicted the atrocities of slavery on TV." He was the first Black man to win the best supporting actor Oscar for "An Officer and a Gentleman."
Sorry for long absence. My mom was desperately ill this winter and was hospitalized. When she came back, she needed 24h care and still is in poor health. I have been deeply stressed and needed to step back from social media.
You would think it's too early in the week to already have a contender for the most randomized-sounding headline of the week, but here we are. A sci-fi jukebox musical based on the music of the Goo Goo Dolls is set to premiere next week....

Just saw a 2018 British documentary on Amazon: “Tea with the Dames.” Four fine actresses talking about the old days; plus stills & clips. Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright, Eileen Atkins, Judi Dench.
Atkins relates a story from back then, by the actor Tim West. He returned to his roominghouse one night, turned on the light — and there was his landlady, having sex with a man on the kitchen table.
Looking up, she said, "Oh, Mister West! You must think I'm such a flirt."
