We’ve just arrived in our hotel for the night in Lochmaddy, North Uist. It’s a strange sort of village, there are amenities (a visitor’s centre, a community shop, a children’s play area, a petrol station and, strangely, the Sheriff’s court) but no centre. It’s a good job we’re booked in to eat at the hotel tonight as there’s nowhere else to go! #OuterHebrides#ScottishIslands#Scotland#RoadTrip
Morning! Down to breakfast as soon as it starts as we’ve got to catch a ferry from the north of Barra to South Uist. Then I think it’s over a causeway to North Uist. I have a leaflet about all the interesting archeological sites on the Uists but I’m not sure if we’ll have time to look at them or not. It’s drizzling a little but fortunately the wind has dropped, hoping for a fairly calm sailing #OuterHebrides#Scotland#ScottishIslands#RoadTrip
Agenda for today: drive from Loch Lomond to Oban, have lunch, then take the ferry to the island of Barra. It’s a 3hr 45min crossing and we arrive there about 6pm and go straight to our hotel, where we will be having dinner. We’re staying on Barra for two nights, hope the weather is kind as we would like to do some walking tomorrow #scotland#RoadTrip#ScottishIslands#OuterHebrides
