Three things I've learned about fruit as an adult:
The apple core is a lie. If you eat the apple like there wasn't any core, it'll taste just the same and you'll barely notice it (and even if you bite through the seeds, you have nothing to worry about unless you eat a metric shit-ton of apples every day).
Also: eating the whole apple (and the stem, although it's a bit hard to chew) is good for your microbiome.
Kiwis don't have to be peeled. Just wash them and eat like an apple. You'll barely notice the difference, while the fuss goes down 80%
Oranges that are hard to peel (like blood oranges) become very easy to peel if you roll them between your palms for a few minutes, applying gentle pressure.
A gouache painting a did for my husband's aunt recently.
We made it to Greece! We currently live in an empty house, bar a bed and a kitchen table (we expect our things from the US to arrive by boat in a few weeks). We're running from government service to another to get set up with our papers and legalities. We can't wait to be able to relax soon... The view is great from our new home. We can see both the Ionian sea and the Amvrakikos national park.
A fair bit of train(s) rides this morning - to get to #Yuasa in #Wakayama
Will grab lunch first and then some walk around. Original plan was to spend a couple of days - perhaps in Shirahama but the cold wasn't too helpful for the beach or camping so just a day trip #Japan#Travel #DasInYuasa
While I'm on the topic of #oranges and #wakayama and #Yuasa - we were given small ones at the soy sauce place and told the small ones are really good. Anyways, we picked up some at a store then more at an unattended stand 200¥ per bag both places. Then the takoyaki lady at the evening snack place handed us some as well. An abundance of oranges (so deep orange and bursting with flavor these!!)
It was surprisingly hard to get used to being able to grow vegetables and fruit all year round in our corner of #California, but we are making progress.
I painted this picture some time ago in a small course at my friend's workshop. At that time she was a budding art therapist who loved to try out things together with us. We mixed the colours from pigments and binders. The task was to paint the background first and then create something from it. It was a lot of fun! 🍊
This #abstract#artprint of beautiful #oranges would really brighten up a dull #kitchen and give your eyes a dose of vitamin see everyday! ⬅see what I did there?
Good morning fr #Pasadena. A slower day today hopefully. Garden is all watered so I will try to finish my fence plans/quote today so I can discuss it with my neighbor this weekend.
Yesterday, I decided to try the #oranges from what I call my OJ tree which grows the juiciest, seeded, very low-pulp oranges. Still very tart, but nonetheless delicious. Each orange yields 1/2 cup atm. It’s still very early for that tree. All my other varieties are still green because we haven’t had a lot of cold yet. Most oranges should be ripe within 2 months but my OJ variety can sometime make me wait several more months for the sweetest juice.
The weekend is also here so I’m wishing everyone a great 2 days off. And if you’re in Canada/US don’t forget to switch back to #DST at 2am Sunday!! 🙄
Authorities in Winnipeg, and authorities in Toronto, make decisions. But each makes their own decision, based on the totality of the circumstances in their own jurisdiction and their own understanding of the wants, needs, and requirements of their own public.
You can't compare "Abbotsford town council decided issue X in Y way" with "Halifax town council decided similar issue Z and didn't pick Y" and come up with any conclusion from it.
