Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....
Copy/pasted from a previous response I wrote regarding this topic. I hope it helps:
When you follow a given account on #Mastodon with your #kbin account, posts from that account will be #federated here. If they use #hashtags, then posts they write will be federated into #magazines here based on permitted tags chosen by magazine moderators which show up in the #microblogging section of a magazine. AFAIK, posts that don't get sorted into a particular magazine will be sent to @random. In order to search for magazines/communities, you can enter linux@lemmy.world into the search bar for example.
So very sad to me. Maximum PC magazine (previously known as "boot") is no longer in print. Before I setup my gaming PC it kept a Mac user aware of the PC state of the art. Since building one, it was even more useful.
My thing was, I'd buy an issue at an airport every time I flew - a few issues a year. That was enough. They're all on the shelf, past 20 or so years. I looked in every mag stand in my Memphis trip we just finished - no one had it. Then, I searched on the issue. :-/

So, this can't be right. Samantha has a new article... and it's not a con write-up.
Anyway! She goes deep into US fandom history, with a new article that explores the earliest days of fandom and one of the first anime zines, Fanta's Zine.
So I seem to have found smaller Magazines / Communities that haven't been on Kbin before and after finding them they seem to have no posts but after looking through Lemmy it seems they do have posts. Does it take time for Lemmy to add all the posts or is it only new posts that will come across?
So most of us "old timers" now have been on kbin for almost a month (or more), and kbin has been around for longer. And.... we've started to have an issue and I'm not sure if y'all have noticed: early on some people went around to claim some magazines either with the intent to pass it off later, or simply to squat and ideally...

How do I subscribe to/view content that hasn't been added to Kbin yet?
I haven't figured out how to view new content through kbin which hasn't been "added" yet....
Does Kbin move all the Fediverse Magazines / Community posts across?

Can magazine tags be applied to all the content posted in that magazine?
As far as I can tell, magazine tags are mainly used when searching for magazines, and maybe for determining related magazines....
