JustEnoughDucks, (edited ) to selfhosted in how to set up jellyfin with podman and selinux and an intel gpu (a380) for transcoding?
@JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl avatar

Are you absolutely sure that you have the i915 firmware installed and enabled?

If you have gone through these steps of adding the modules: jellyfin.org/docs/general/…/intel/#low-power-enco…

and it doesn’t work, you may have to manually download the git linux firmware library, extract the i915 folder and place it in your firmware folder.

That is how I got jellyfin working on my A380 after pulling my hair out about it.

Please check and post your dmesg starting up.

You should see GUC and HUC enabling.

Perspektywa #1, narożnik placu dworcowego i ulicy Dworcowej.

I might have a go at writing myself a guide for overcoming making music anxiety. Or something. Document my workflow and try to turn it into work.

Rain for LA in a week? Maybe. Maybe not.

ai6yr,

Okay, maybe it's not a song about the weather (dunno what it is about), but here are the brilliant lyrics. You can't argue they aren't about a low pressure weather system by the lyrics alone 😉

I'm going to have a bit of a (less charitable people might say ) here. If you just want jokes and cute bunny pictures, feel free to skip this one.

Object of my this week? . I'm not even going to rant about their main control boards; most of that's been said better than I could say it, by others with more knowledge than I.

I'm ranting about .

Ages ago, furnaces had one in them, to spin the that moves air through your house.

1/x

cazabon,

Those simple, reliable AC motors generally only run at one speed. They have no easy way to run them "" and "" like this.

When I replaced the furnace in my previous house, the new one had what was fairly new furnace technology at the time - its blower motor was a motor. I think it was a permanent-magnet brushless motor, though I can't swear to that.

Such motors are everywhere these days. Cheap computer fans use them; better cordless tools use them, etc.

6/x

cazabon,

The advantage is that they are easily speed-controlled. They have simple on board -- simple today, they would have been in -- that allow you to run them at almost any speed between "stop" and "full speed". They also have an easy way to how fast they're turning, so you can adjust the control signal until it matches the speed you want.

It worked great. runs at speed all the time, stirs the air, runs fast when delivering heat, saves money.

7/x

If you're using Bitwarden*, you should probably log on to the website and increase the number of (will edit in later) rounds it uses. Once upon a time it was a ridiculously low number. They can't change the value without kicking you out of all of your devices, so it's up to you to change it.

It should be cranked up to where it takes a few seconds on your (probably rather fast) phone. I wish @bitwarden had a benchmark for this.

My setting is (to edit in later).

*same hat!

Hi @rotopenguin ! Yes, we absolutely recommend you update your iterations, and included an in-product reminder to do so! You can read more about the update and our new recommended KDF iteration count here: https://bitwarden.com/help/kdf-algorithms/#low-kdf-iterations

The orphan rule: understandable, but a bummer.

Using a library that didn't implement Eq/PartialEq on its primary structs? Good luck testing your downstream code! You can't just rub #[derive(PartialEq)] on those structs; you gotta write your own wrapper. 😩

"Just impl Deref!" you say? Sure, except maybe these structs have a lot of what would be classmethods in Python. Deref trick doesn't seem to work for those.

Plus, the “newtype pattern” is a lotta boilerplate even when it works?

@mo8it@fosstodon.org avatar

@isntitvacant @bitprophet Yes, hyper itself tells you that it is low level and shouldn't be used directly by end users:

Axum is the way to write backends based on hyper.

Ther's lots of ways to slice the coalition, but one important axis are the self-styled adults-in-the-room, who declare themselves realists, and the party's left wing, who are dismissed as idealists who don't understand politics: neither how to win elections nor how to wield power.
