The law prevents you from using the title Engineer to imply you are a member of certain professional organizations - APEGB in the story, or APEGS in my province - when you are not.
It is not in #violation of the #law to accurately describe yourself as an #Engineer by training or by occupation. There are legal precedents establishing this in Canada.
I had to fend off APEGS when they sent me a #nastygram regarding this, and had to learn the details.

seriously though, how could this even work? I actually do not understand how this could do anything other than penalize women who choose to separate from their husbands.
Would anyone stay in the same household with a person who they wish to separate from simply because of the complication of creating a more elaborate reason for the separation or having to appear in court?
I'm just trying to understand how the advocates of this kind of law even imagine it might work.
I've liked 28 years of marriage and I know my spouse has to.
We've enjoyed tax and legal benefits, and in the now improbable situation that we had gotten divorced after having children, she would have enjoyed numerous rights to my (higher) income and various other legal protections.
With marriage comes the protections of divorce law too.
Marriage seems to be defined at a state level, so I guess one should be careful where one marries or resides.
But I recommend love, and I recommend marriage... in a legal sense, in an emotional sense, in a community sense.
The legal side is just a little help with all the other important stuff, but it does help.
If the GOP invents new rules, I suppose that could change, but at the moment they haven't succeeded in their evil plans.
