I'll never get tired of the sight of mist moving through the forest, nor will I tire of the blues and yellows of sunlight diffused by clouds on the horizon 💛💙💛
03/02/2024 - The wind was getting up this evening so we decided on a day walk instead today. A sunny visit to Tap o' Noth. It was still pretty windy but OK. We took the quiet way up to avoid humans. The top is home to a fantastic hillfort. At 563m, it's Scotland's second highest hillfort (Ben Griam Beg in Sutherland is just higher at 580m). The vitrified walls here are just great. We found a sheltered spot to have our lunch and gaze out at the landscape below. A nice day out.
The Zingaro Nature Reserve is one of the most popular places in Sicily, where you can enjoy stunning panoramic sea views and alternate between hiking and swimming in beautiful coves ~ Zingaro, Sicily, Italy 🇮🇹
04/01/2024 - After a boring morning spent assembling two chairs (fiddley screws and bolts), we headed out for a walk. It was after sunset before we started. Cairn William from the Tillyfourie side which is not like us. We said hello to the stone circle on the way. Dark and misty on top. We sat by the trig and had our tea. On the way back it rained a bit but then cleared and the stars were lovely, nice Milky Way this evening.
I haven't been taking a lot of photos lately. A bit "busy" with other things. So here's an old one of the local hills with the Biellese Alps in the background. ⛰️ The castle located on the hill to the right is the Zumaglia Castle. #photography#landscape#hills#mountains#biella#biellese#alps
Lengpui #airport in #Mizoram is quite an #engineering marvel. A lot of hills were ‘grinded’ down so a plane could land. Around the time it was being built, an MLA of the opposition MNF party famously said, “Not even a crow will land on that place. It’s for Lalthanhawla (the CM at the time) and his cronies’ way of making money.” Credit to the ruling INC government of the time who pushed the central government that Mizoram needs this airport
The state government currently controls its operation but I hear that the IAF is salivating to take over it and run it on the lines of the one in #Pune.
16/09/2023 - After sunset visit to Ben Rinnes. Quiet on the hill. Wheatear still here and a couple of ptarmigan flew by. Lovely golden sunset and then a dark walk down. No moon so the stars were great. An autumn chill in the air, very different to last week. Temp was low single figures. With equinox in a few days time, the cold months are coming. A good trip.
