@BGP@socel.net

Welcome.

Thank you for taking your time to visit my galleries. I'm a photographer that makes his home in Northern California. I love getting out shooting the outstanding scenery that this area has to offer. I may be in Yosemite one weekend and the Napa wine country the next. I try not to set limits on where, when or what I shoot.
I've been shooting photography now for roughly six years and am learning something new every time I go out.

Balloons In The Desert

Balloons In The Desert was captured early in the morning with low summer light. This lighting made the balloon colors pop against the clear blue sky. The quality of light brought out the desert background and blended nicely with the yellows/golds of the balloons.
It wasn't long after this that the balloons took to the sky. See the full image here: https://pixels.com/featured/balloons-in-the-desert-bill-gallagher.html

37 Chevy Pickup

My love for old restored hot rods has been with me as far back as I remember. I don't often get time to go to car shows for my own enjoyment.
I recently had the chance to go to a show and I really enjoyed myself. Here we have a 1937 restomod Chevy Pickup. The paint on this truck was immaculate as was all of the other restoration work involved to turn out this beauty.

North Shore Antique

I came across this little gem on Oahu's North Shore.
One of the things I enjoy about the islands are the small stores, food trucks, and food stands found along some of the rural highways and roads.
I love all of the colors on the outside of the building, between the colorful license plates, Hawaiian shirts, and the floral print dresses, colors were everywhere. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/north-shore-antique-bill-gallagher.html

Waikiki Beach From Diamond Head

While traveling to Honolulu I just had to take the hike to the top of Diamond Head.
The view from the top is worth every step to get there. The wide open views of the Pacific facing the west. To the south on a clear day you can see the islands of Molokai, Maui, and Lanai. To the north is Honolulu and Waikiki Beach.

Northshore Congestion

While in Hawaii I went out to the Northshore of Oahu to see the famed Pipeline
The wind was blowing from the wrong direction so the Pipeline was a bust. We grabbed a lunch. and ended up on Haleiwa Ali Beach.
As it turns out, some of the best surfers in the world happened to be out riding on these magnificent waves. See the full image here: https://pixels.com/featured/northshore-congestion-bill-gallagher.html

Wave Rider

Or maybe in this case, Air Rider. Either way, this surfer, and many others, out on Oahu's Northshore was simply amazing.
The waves were large and the action was non-stop. At times, 3 or 4 surfers trying for the same wave.
In this image one of the surfers, caught in midair, is trying to land a 360.See the full image here: https://pixels.com/featured/wave-rider-bill-gallagher.html

Titus Canyon
Titus Canyon in Death Valley National Park is an amazing section of the park that has so much to see along the way.
This image was captured at the crest of the ridge as you enter the canyon. Beautiful, colorful mountains are the reward for making the trip. As a bonus, the Ghost Town of Ledfield is in the canyon. See the full image here: https://pixels.com/featured/titus-canyon-bill-gallagher.html

Titus Canyon Exit

After taking a very enjoyable, somewhat nerve-wracking drive through Titus Canyon the road comes to an end. No this isn't the end but seems to be as you approach the cliff walls that are close to vertical.
Titus Canyon changes from a beautiful wide canyon and winds its way through a nearly vertical slot canyon.

Maroon Bells Panoramic

Maroon Bells had always been on my bucket list. This mountain landscape is truly a wonderful hiking destination.
I was able to time the trip almost perfectly for the fall color season. The aspen trees were dressed in their best fall colors and the big puffy clouds in the sky kept the afternoon cool.

Unattended Children
I found this sign at a small winery in Apple Hill, located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in Northern California.
My wife and I had been visiting at the winery and during our tastings we had been chatting with the sommelier and he had a good sense of humor. On the way outside to view the property I noticed this sign and thought it was cute.

Game Of Kings

I was able to watch a Polo match while on a recent trip to Northern Michigan. I never watched polo before and found the sport to be interesting although I admit that I didn't fully understand the rules.
The basic are pretty simple, hit the ball with a mallet, while riding a pony on a grass field, with the ultimate placement of the ball is between the goal post.

Lady Of The Wind

Upon entering Antelope Canyon, you enter into a world like no other. The way the sun filters through the narrow opening of the canyon above that is in some places less than a couple of feet, is unbelievable. The red sandstone reflects the light bringing out hints of orange, pink, purple and yellow.
This image highlights what is known as The Lady Of The Wind. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/lady-of-the-wind-bill-gallagher.html

Lower Antelope Canyon II

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But what do you do when you are speechless? As you walk down the stairs that descend into Lower Antelope Canyon, you can tell that you are entering a very special place. There was a certain spiritual kind of feeling that came over me that I can't explain.

This beautiful valley lies inland, just a short distance from Princeville and Hanalei Bay. This area serves as a wildlife refuge for the birds and animals on the island of Kauai.
The mountains nearby are one of the wettest spots on earth, receiving an average rainfall of almost 400 inches annually. See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/hanalei-valley-bill-gallagher.html

Tennessee State Capitol

The Tennessee State Capitol is located on Capitol Hill in Downtown Nashville, TN. The building is modled after Greek Revivial architecture. Nashville was known as the Athens of the South so many of the buildings share some traits of Greek architecture.
Construction began on this building in 1845 and was completed in 1859.

Tennessee State Capitol Interior

This is a photograph of the interior of the Tennessee State Capitol building in Nashville, Tennessee. This is one of 13 state capitol buildings that doesn't have a dome as a central design element.
I was looking for a design feature that caught my eye. I found this chandelier in the middle of a hallway on the second floor.

Nashville Sunset

This image of Nashville Sunset was captured from the norteastern end of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge that crosses the Cumberland River. The riverfront is in plain view and just beyod the riverbank is the Honky Tonk Highway, or it's real name Broadway.
The sun has already set but it is throwing a crazy orange and yellow glow off the clouds above the city. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/nashville-sunset-bill-gallagher.html

Clearing Storm Around Half Dome

Yosemite in the winter time is magical if you can stand a little cold. Clouds move in and out of the valley without warning. They can bring snow or rain or both depending on how cold the storm front is.
This image was captured as a storm was clearing from the valley and the clouds released their grip on Half Dome.

The Golden Gate

The Golden Gate. The name given to this stretch of water before the bridge was built or gold was discovered. The first mention of this was in Jon Freemont's memoirs where he wrote in 1846 "To this Gate I gave the name of "Chrysopylae", or "Golden Gate";
In 1937 the Golden Gate Bridge was built to span this gap. See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-golden-gate-bill-gallagher.html?newartwork=true

The Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world. It's easy to understand why. The bridge itself is a beautiful piece of architectural art work and the setting is incredible.
One of the reasons I am fascinated with the bridge is that you can visit it over and over and it never seems to have the same appearance.

Golden Leaf

I came across this leaf as I was hiking below Yosemite Falls during in the fall.
I really liked how it seemed to be defying mother nature by holding on to the branch of the tree even as snow clung to the edges of the leaf. Golden Falls

During the spring the Dogwoods in Yosemite have large white flowers. In the fall the leaves turn yellow and fall off the tree.
An early fall storm hit the valley and dropped a good amount of snow.
I used Intentional Camera Movement to create a waterfall affect for this.
The green background from the cedars blends well with the yellow dogwoods.

Half Dome Infrared

This is an image of Half Dome located in Yosemite National Park. This giant rock formation rises above Yosemite Valley and the Merced River.
Captured towards the end of winter there is some snow on top of the dome.
Below the dome is the Merced River flowing slowly giving the trees on both sides of the river a soft reflection. The ground is covered in snow. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/half-dome-infrared-bill-gallagher.html

Yosemite Falls Infrared

Yosemite Falls is a majestic waterfall that cascades down from Yosemite's high country 2,425 feet to the valley below in three stages. The upper falls drops 1,430 feet with rugged cliffs and steep rocky walls.
The middle falls, not seen here, drops another 675 feet.
Finally the lower falls the final 320 feet to the valley floor.
