Came across these little gold puffballs at the park yesterday. Even though the color's wrong, they made me think of the clover from 'Horton Hears A Who!' They're about 2cm across. I have no clue what sort of bush this is. The breeze was making it near impossible to get a good macro shot.
I’m sharing another old(ish) drawing for Folktale Week! This is a drawing I did this past summer as part of an art challenge for a Discord Server I’m in, inspired by the local legend of The White Stag of Kelso Valley… I thought he was the perfect choice for today’s “iIllusion” theme!
And shout out to Ken Layne and his book/zine Desert Oracle, where I first learned about this local legend and many others! If you’re interested in Weird Desert Stuff, especially when it comes to the Mojave, then I highly recommend you check out his book! #kelsovalley#mojave#mojavedesert
Climate change and development -- especially the construction of large solar farms in the high desert -- has put the genetically distinct western population of Joshua trees under extreme pressure.
