Inspiration is a myth. I don't believe in it anymore.
Don't get trapped by it. Don't feel guilty about not being productive while you sit and wait for it to magically strike.
Know what inspiration is? It's allowing yourself the time to dedicate to creating. It's sitting down with the mindset of working on your art, your music, your writing, your cooking, your whatever.
Allow yourself the time, put yourself in the moment, and go make something!
"Credit sequences are telling fascinating stories in seconds," says IndieWire writer Mark Peikert, who bemoans the modern trend of hitting skip as soon as the theme music starts. Tell us in the comments what show you think has the all-time best opening credits (we say it's "White Lotus").
Here’s day 1 of #MyCreativeYear. It’s the 20th and I’m starting (unsurprisingly) with January.
I was bought a loom by Mr. CP for Christmas, which I started to play with properly in January. I absolutely love weaving - seems to have the right balance of repetition and concentration for me.
I made a scarf (shocking I know!) and a piece of fabric I later turned into a cushion cover.
In my long experience working with artists across all media, one of the things that I've found the most rewarding is discovering their inspirations, which often lead to new creative ideas of my own....
Apple has come under fire because its iPad Pro “Crush” ad depicts the destruction of items used by artists. Now folks are saying it's unoriginal too. X user Andy Allen pointed out that it bears a striking resemblance to a 2008 commercial for LG's Renoir KC910. Here's more from @9to5Mac.
I am 1/3rd of the way through my challenge to create 30 pieces of art in 30 days and I'm enjoying it and not experiencing any burnout yet. (Fingers firmly crossed.)
What inspires you to be creative?
