I haven’t been able to find all the right groups of people on the fediverse. And this makes me sad. I follow a group of people in my field of work and a large # of people in the Apple development ecosystem.
#QuestionOfTheDay: What's a work you would consider to be good/enjoyable "mid" and what's one you would consider to be bad mid? What makes the difference in your opinion?
I'm interested following more people here, particularly in the #php#laravel and #comicbooks community. It's actually quite challenging to find folks on this service IMO.
Whoa. Marvel's Avengers is getting one last massive price cut, and then it's going to be removed from stores forever. There aren't many games I can think of (especially based on such popular IP) that flopped this hard.
For $4, I might grab it... https://www.gamescensor.com/2023/09/marvels-avengers-minimized-to-399-to.html?m=1
What's something minor that happens a lot in fiction that bothers you? Not something related to an area of expertise that everybody thinks is normal but you know is wrong. I mean something mundane that's like women waking up in full makeup, or people standing under the shower and turning it on instead of pointing it away or standing away first to get the water right, etc
Don't ask me why - and please don't judge me - but I'm almost inexplicably a Burtonverse Batman nerd (ever since seeing Batman in 1989 as a 12 year old).
Having listened to podcasts and watched videos over recent years I've realised I have a ridiculous amount of knowledge on this subject that I've taken for granted. So I'm thinking of running an info tidbit n scrapbook account on the Fediverse to share what I've learned over the years. (Always loved the About Faces Livejournal blog that covered Two-Face!)
I think Mastodon would be good for this. But which instance? Help!
February 29th, #LeapDay, is the official birthday of Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent.
It was first designated as his birthday in issue 164 of World's Finest Comics in 1966. (The linked article does not include this fact, for some reason.)
If you feel like your #Mastodon interactions have dried lately and are looking for new interactions, I'd be happy to oblige if you like posting about any of -
Out of the Ditko years because Ditko, and Raimi films because Raimi, I really dislike Peter Parker. I'm not in for the bad puns and self-inflicted torment, basically. So moving what I hate about the character to a kid sidekick is, for me, an idea as bad as it gets. Just this first issue has been enough to confirm that bad only tends to get worse. #ComicBooks#SpiderBoy
A Batman researcher said ‘gay’ in a talk to schoolkids. When asked to censor himself, he quit
“We’re long past the point where we should be policing people talking about who they love,” Nobleman said in a telephone interview. “And that’s what I’m hoping will happen in this community.”
I own the Batman vs Dracula Elseworlds collection that includes Batman & Dracula: Red Rain, Batman: Bloodstorm, and Batman: Crimson Mist. I finished reading it this week, so had some thoughts on the matter.
For reference, the comics are loosely connected to #DCComics Earth 43, for reference. However, that is mostly a connection of aesthetics and in the what if scenario of Batman becoming a vampire to face Dracula. This story is stands alone and apart as a tale about Batman alone, separate from the greater DC Universe.
A little disappointed my comic book collector bio dad stored these so haphazardly but they're not looking too bad for their age, and they were always readin' copies.
Tips on what the best comic book covers and any care tips? Thinking I'll slip them in those plastic comic covers and put them on a bottom shelf not facing a window. I have a hundred or two.
Bit of Old Book Smell but I don't think that's too avoidable here
#scifi Animal cast #comicissue round-up! Worst to best starting with #CaptainGinger from #AhoyComics, really weird starting issue I couldn’t really connect to anything or anyone and none of the characters seemed particularly like-able and had particularly silly names that took me right out of the story. #SamuraiDoggy is fun surface level stuff from #Aftershock but nothing more, I have all of the other issues but I’m in no rush to finish it, FANTASTIC work on art though!
