Talking to Marie in the kitchen and we hear a strange rustling on our back patio. She opens the curtain, and is greeted by a young owl full wing spread knocking over stuff we had stacked back there. I got a couple shots through the dirty sliding door and screen. DAMN nature. You freaky!
I've come for you, the vulture does say,
As they do in that Edgar Allen Poe way,
I'll sit right here and wait for some lunch,
On your rotting bones and flesh shall I munch
Oh wait, I'm wrong and you're not dying alone?
That smell's just your brand new cologne?
Here's another of my favorite #bird photos from our recent #camping and #birding trip. This is a Prothonotary Warbler and one of my favorite species. They are sometimes called swamp canaries because of their preference for wet habitats. #birds#nature#wildlife#Wisconsin
In parts of the United Kingdom, seeing a single magpie is considered a bad omen. However, saluting the magpie by tipping your hat and giving it a friendly greeting as a sign of respect can ward off any bad luck that could result from the encounter. #FolkloreSunday
A brown winged female pileated woodpecker has been coming regularly to the feeder. She stands out because usually, pileated woodpeckers have black wings feathers. I don't know the significance of the brown feathers on her wings, but at least they help me tell her apart from the other female pileated woodpeckers. #bird#birding#birdsofmastodon#birdphotography#nature#woodpecker#HoosierMast
"I gave you all the food."
"Nah nah nah I can't hear you."
"Still gave you all the food until you fly over to that other tree with more food on it."
"I'm just a lil baby, I can't hear you."
Another silly scene from the Red-bellied Woodpecker mother & child this morning, you can see better here why I think the little one's a male
You buy them food, keep their water supply clean, keep quiet in your garden to avoid disturbing them, and when you pop out with your camera they just turn away from you.
