An Emily Dickinson poem my Pops had hanging in his woodshop is now a tribute to my bird Fren, Tenshi.
Tenshi went over the Rainbow Bridge last night. He and I had been Frens for almost 10 years.
He would voice my frustrations with automated phone systems. He would chime in on conversations, sing with other birds outside, and when I would leave, before closing the door I’d say, “You’re in charge, Tenshi.”

It snowed last Friday night which is not surprising in Iowa in March. Unfortunately, February & early March were unusually warm which led to some plants, like my tulips, to come up prematurely 🙁. The upside is catching some bird-in-snow photos like this song sparrow that was hanging out with the cardinals, bluebirds, robins, & dark-eyed juncos, all searching the ground for food.

The birds never noticed the suet cakes in the 2-sided suet cage so, inspired by a cat owner who groomed his cat then stuffed his suet cage with floof, I did the same with dog fur when I groomed my dogs, big dog's short undercoat on one side, little dog's long undercoat on the other. The birds ignored it till March, then emptied it overnight. I could see the fur sticking out of the birdhouses till they tidied up. Now we're counting down till the eggs hatch. #catstodon#dogstodon#birds#birbs
