Yes, I'm just as addicted as before. Mostly, I've been constructing a new base for the main game, and since we played together yesterday (yay!), I could tackle the construction of a new kitchen/bedroom hall/tower today. Even survived two Events (draugr / trolls).
It's not an architectural marvel, but I am rather proud of it.
And now I'll give Sun some much deserved attention.
I am so freaking proud of my new base. It's really lovely and I had so much fun building it.
This game has such potential for creativity. The building blocks are much like Lego, really. And playing it helps me gain more confidence with problem solving, project management and tenaciousness. Never thought I'd get that much out of a simple game.
Have a look at my base. No, it's not perfect, but it's mine, as they say.
I just saw an image of a stave church someone built in Valheim (just like Borgund), and my mind is blown.
I LOVE that the game makes it possible. Love that it's not just about slaying monsters and gaining XP. It's so much more - and that makes it great fun.
Now I want to build a great hall and a fortress... but first, I have to fortify my current homes.
#Valheim’s insight on early access: your first release of the game has to be in a good state, has to be fun already. If people have a bad experience they’ll leave a bad review and never come back to try it again later. Minimum viable product isn’t enough. #GDC24
Hi, #Mastodon fam. My name is Monika and I just moved in to this neighbourhood a.k.a. server! That said, my #timeline is pretty empty right now, so I would #love to meet new #friends and fill it up with #fun#content. Interact with this post if you play some of these #games...
Okay, picking up from my video game post yesterday, I'm curious:
When you play video games, rpgs, ect, where you get to choose your character, do you tend to choose a character of the same sex, the opposite sex, non-binary, anthropomorphic, or a mysterious 4th option?
If you want to share screenshots of character builds I would enjoy that!
@RickiTarr I play same gender, females, 80% of the time. It's been #Valheim and #Roblox (I have kids so I'll play with them there.) for a long time now.
@BlackAzizAnansi Yep, my main gaming rig is a 2012 Mac Pro (the giant cheesegrater model) running Windows that’s been hotrodded a bit (upgraded 3D card) and will play almost anything still. “Starfield” finally got me 😂, been mostly playing older games lately, #Skyrim, #Cyberpunk2077, and my “solitaire” #WorldOfWarships
I love #Valheim and I picked up a Steam Deck so my daughter and I could play together. (She’s big into her Switch and we play #OverCooked together a bit)
#Valheim is one of those games that I love to just explore and find new areas. My current map (seed qyJU7DVt80) is breath taking. The main spawn island (so far) has Meadows, Black Forests, Plains, Swamps, and Mountains! Pretty much every biome in the game except for the Mistlands! Here's a screen from when I discovered the Plains on the main island. Notice the contrast between the Black Forest I had been fighting through and the beauty and vast openness of the Plains. Gorgeous stuff! #videogame
So I picked up #Palworld and honestly I'm just stunned that it's a competent, real game, I thought from the first trailer it was gonna be like "alright this game isn't real, it's gonna come out and be terrible and half baked" but no, "What if #Valheim but Pokemon" is pretty decent so far actually.
I like that they don't just hand you the guns, that's late game. Feels like you're boots on the ground as an RTS unit working with other RTS units and advancing through the ages a-la Age of Empires.
My daughter had a complete freakout last night playing #Valheim:
We were updating our initial cabin and she make a display plate and was putting stuff on it, she put a raspberry and was expecting a bunch of raspberries.
What she got was a raspberry the size of her characters head.
She’s still ranting about it this morning 😂
My comment last night: “it has to be that big; how else would you get all that health and stamina?” 😀
