In the vibrant month of May,
where flowers bloom and children play,
there's a buzz that's quite beguiling,
in the world where Linux is smiling... cont'd in the comments!
Gentle but not to overlook,
there are some companies which took
the heart of the users in a rush,
which lasts longer than CandyCrush.
No matter if using apk, apt or nix,
you'll find something for you at #System76,
if you don't really know what to do,
take a look at beginner-friendly #Tuxedo.
Want to tinker a bit more?
Well, #Framework got something for you in store.
There is always someone who can help,
you dont have to do all by yourself.
I just installed COSMIC Desktop on Fedora 40. It works smoothly and is very fast. All apps open instantly with no glitches or hangs, and everything functions perfectly. Well Done, COSMIC team. #cosmic#desktop#fedora40#system76
Just a huge THANK YOU to everyone that attended, spoke and helped run #lfnw#lfnw2024
It was one of the best weekends and gatherings I've been to. Special props to #system76 and #jupiterbroadcasting That did SO MUCH behind the scenes to make this so awesome.
I looked at the #rust based, #Cosmic#desktop#environment, by #System76. This is branded "alpha" right now, but I'm flabbergasted by the users online, who think that "by summer" that thing will be ready for general use.
News flash, it won't.
It generally takes 2-3 years minimum after the official release for a brand new DE (with a brand new #API & libs) to become truly useful to most people. DEs aren't adopted unless matured. Hamper your expectations, lads.
I finally decided for a new daily driver laptop. I wanted something from a small manufacturer focused on #linux. Looked at devices from #StarLabs, #Purism, #System76, #Slimbook. At the end I decided for the Pulse 14 from @tuxedocomputers. It looks almost perfect for me. The only downside is that they don‘t ship with US-ANSI keyboards. I‘m afraid this will annoy me the first few week… Anyways, looking forward for the device to arrive in order to install #NixOS.
The latest System76 Oryx Pro Linux laptop is up for pre-order for $1899 and up. It has a 16 inch FHD+ 165 Hz display, a Core i9-14900HX processor. Thunderbolt 4, 2.5 GbE LAN, and up to RTX 4070 graphics, 96GB RAM, 8TB storage. https://buff.ly/4cv9Tzg#LinuxLaptop#System76#System76OryxPro#laptop
It's really nice to see the progress being made on @system76's COSMIC DE. I've been checking it out on my ThinkPad T14 with an AMD Ryzen APU running Pop!_OS.
I tried upgrading to the latest version of the #system76#coreboot firmware, but didn't fix Thunderbird.
By the way, @system76, why aren't firmware upgrades available on #LVFS?
The system76-firmware tool isn't even packaged for Fedora, so I had to build it from sources to find that my Lemur Pro was missing the 2024-02-20 update.
🦀 System76 Now Planning For COSMIC Desktop Alpha Release In Late May | Phoronix
「 System76 had been planning an initial alpha release of their Rust-written COSMIC desktop environment to debut at the end of Q1 (March), but now they are delaying the first alpha to May for allowing time to wrap up feature work on their new desktop apps 」
