I'm mostly enjoying #SteinsGate. The big exception is that I hate the relationship between Mayuri and Rintaro. It's supposed to be childhood friends or something like that but he patronizes her like she's somewhere between a kindergartener and a puppy. And everyone is 100% okay with it. They even do some stuff to indicate there might be a romantic element to it?
I'm not ruling out that I'm supposed to hate it because it shows Rintaro is an immature ass. Characters change in this show. Mayuri is also clearly hiding how competent she is to play a role in his life for messed up reasons. Still gives me the squick.
12 hours ago, I had no interest in any of the #SteinsGate collab characters. Now I'm hastily rearranging my budget in case I have to roll to pity for get Kurisu.
I am absolutely shocked that Ruka is handled as well as she is in #SteinsGate. The story was written in 2009 and the #anime came out in 2011.
Don't get me wrong, it's quite cringe by today's standards but a character directly saying "I think I was supposed to be a girl" then using time travel to try to get her mom to eat something different while pregnant is a very raw emotional beat even if the other characters are dismissive, insulting, and fetishizing her.
I did every route in #SteinsGate and saw the true ending. The other routes were easy, but I was lucky for getting Mayuri first try because of what they call "flags" for the true ending. So after Mayuri, I easily got the other character's routes except Kurisu. Then, with the help of a guide, I got Kurisu's ending and the true ending right after. I loved to see all story variations, to unlock everything and see that famous true ending! El Psy Kongroo! #videogames#visualnovel
It's very subjective when a #visualnovel suddenly starts getting interesting and gripping. To me, it only happened in chapter 6 in #SteinsGate. Chapter 5 was OK, but before, it was a real slog. I've been playing the game for months on-an-off like a boring relationship you can't end. It's nice that the story finally picked up for me, but why only after 10 hours? I recommend the game, but damn, it took me a minute. #videogames
The Radio Kaikan is the iconic building opposite the JR Akihabara Station. It was the first high-rise building in Akihabara in 1962 and was horribly derelict by the 2000s (It was horrible, I have pics somewhere). It was rebuilt from 2011 to 2015.
It's where the time machine crashed in Steins;Gate, and is now being destroyed in 16 Bit Sensation.
