I found out that I might be autistic (Aspergers Syndrome in those early days) in early 2000s, but didn't understand how it affected me. I didn't actually think it did.
Then I found this article on Medium (now on Wordpress) by Jay Edidin that explained everything about my life that I never understood.
I could write about my experience with ASD, but really, it would read just like this. Including the X Men references - I was an X-man fan since the Claremont/Byrne era. Everything checked.
I just want to share this article because the intersection of autism, queerness, comix, sci-fi/fantasy and pop culture is so obvious now, surely someone else here will say, 'yes! that's the way it is for me too!'
Forgive the outdated bits about Aspergers and then-tech. It was first written in 2014 and 10 years means it feels like the Stone Age. The rest of it is good though.
