Wegen Beiträgen wie diesen wurde ich von mehreren Menschen die Mastodon benutzen und davon das sie in ihren Stream recht lange scrollen mussten um durch den Beitrag durchzukommen gefragt ob ich Mastodon Content Warnings nutzen kann. Ja kann ich, aber das sieht dann für andere Friendica User aus. Den selbst wenn ich in die Content Warnung die Überschrift des Beitrags hinein schreibe ist das doch recht unauffällig und nichtssagend.
Deshalb stellt sich für mich die Frage was zu lang ist. Und ob es evtl. eine Möglichkeit gibt mit so etwas wie einen Anriss im Blog zu arbeiten. Den das dürfe sowohl für User von Macroblogging Plattformen als auch für User von Microblogging Plattformen die beste Lösung sein.

I feel for @nova who is exiting #Fediverse and fast paced microblogging type of social media in general (based on the statement on Twitch). I myself not long ago thought about leaving social media behind all together.
The "social" media today is garbage and often only leeches energy out of you, bit by bit. I wanted to rid myself from that. I wanted to come back alive. After leaving Facebook and Twitter behind got more energy. But no matter how safe, free and open the platform is, it can become a mental burden and insidious time cruncher. We must remember that also good things can be tiring.

Ein echtes Zeitzeugnis. Spannend, was seither daraus geworden ist. Wie die Kritik an der Belanglosigkeit seiner Inhalte wich und Twitter zu einem bedeutsamen politischen Sprachrohr wurde. Wie sich Hass und Hetze breit machten und wie es nun den Bach runter geht. Wie es mal von offenen APIs profitierte und nun keine externen Apps mehr zulässt.
Gonna give #microblogging in m/LearnJapanese a shot. I would also like to preface this by saying it's possible some information may be incorrect or missing context. I'm human, after all. That said, I'm open to learning, refining, and adding onto this over time.
Now for the topic I'd like to discuss, one thing I find fascinating about #Japanese is their use of #subjectOmission. Once a subject is established, Japanese sentences commonly stop referring to the subject in subsequent sentences and utterances. For example,
猫は食べています。後で、(猫は)寝ます。
"As for the cat... (It) is eating. Later, (it) will sleep."
Both sentences technically omit the the subject that is doing the verb, and instead use the zero pronoun to refer to the cat.
Whereas in #English for example, if we were to #translate the Japanese sentence as literally as we could, we would get:
Cat eating. Later, sleep.
Breaking this down, the sentence "Cat eating" is #grammaticallyIncorrect. Eating is a #stativeVerb, which expresses a state or condition. In English, stative verbs require #auxiliaryVerbs for a sentence construction to be grammatically correct. We also drop "is" in the literal translation is due to the differences in what a #subjectMarker particle is as opposed to the notion of "is", which is both an auxiliary verb and an #intransitiveVerb. English also requires a subject, and due to this, "Later, sleep" would be considered grammatically incorrect.
Anyways, I think subject-omission is a pretty interesting aspect of #language and #communication as it streamlines what is said and written, and allows for more concise and efficient transmission of #knowledge and #information. Thanks for reading.
Hey all - just started using kbin today as I'm not 100% happy with Lemmy and really enjoying it so far. I also use Mastadon a fair bit, and it'd be awesome to just use kbin for all my social media needs going forward, but I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a way to follow hashtags on the microblogging portion of the site...

Threads may seem like it's doing well for now. If I could join it, I still wouldn't. The fact that the EU won't approve it should worry people. The EU has been unable to determine how this app will protect user data privacy. That's a red flag. I'll be sticking to Mastodon for microblogging and might consider BlueSky when it's fully available.
And honestly I could do without another Zuckerberg product.
My big thing about #threads is that I use Twitter (now Mastodon) vastly differently to how I use instagram. Having a microblogging platform directly tied to my personal Instagram account is not ideal for me and - judging by how few of my friends, coworkers and family have joined the service - others as well I imagine.
