In the Ebionite scriptures Jesus condemned animal sacrifice in the temple of Jerusalem and sought to forever bring that practice to an end. The Ebionite or Hebrew Gospel quotes Jesus as saying, “I have come to abolish the sacrifices, and if you cease not from sacrificing, my wrath will not cease from you.”
If #history has taught us anything, states (or governments ) based on #religion are a VERY BAD IDEA. no matter who they are. All religions may have good and bad parts but in #government the bad/evil parts prevail. An American #Christian#theocracy will be more likely to put nonbelievers' heads on pikes than do the #Jesus thing and house and feed everyone. Indeed has anyone ever heard anyone from the so-called Christian right ever propose doing anything remotely Jesus like.
I thank Chrissy Stroop for teaching me, an atheist who will never read the whole bible, that Jesus was actually kinda wack in some ways, contrary to the mental gymnastics of liberal Christians. Her latest article points out that if someone who wasn't Jesus said that "people should gouge their eyes out to avoid 'lust'; to treat thought crime as just as wrong as harmful actions; to take a donkey without asking permission; to predict eternal torment for the people who refuse to follow him; to break up families, etc," we would rightly identify this person as an abusive cult leader.
IMO, it's the distillation of their perverted view of Christianity and Jesus. So much so that the bimper sticker I saw was probably from the brand of the same name.
"He Is Worthy" 18x24 original acrylic painting. I had this image come to my mind and thought about it on and off for a few months before finally painting it. This is one of my more difficult paintings I've done because I wanted to do my absolute best to show the image I see in my mind of God's glory.
