Hmm, 35C and dewpoint of 33C at the METAR for Jay Prakash Narayan Airport (VEPT), Bihar, India. I don't think in Celsius, but I am thinking that is uncomfortable at best, likely heat illness or death at worst. (assuming no A/C). #heatwave#india#vept
CBS:Delhi temperature may break record for highest ever in India: 126.1 degrees. A temperature reading collected in Delhi, India's capital territory, may have broken national records as the country grapples with a blistering heat wave. The reading — 52.9 degrees Celsius or 126.1 degrees Fahrenheit — was preliminary and technically an outlier compared with others taken in Delhi on the same day, officials said. But, if confirmed, it would be the highest temperature ever registered anywhere in India. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/delhi-temperature-may-break-record-highest-ever-india-126-degrees/#delhi#india#climateemergency#heatwave
"One of the hottest countries on Earth has recorded its highest temperature ever.
India recorded a temperature of 52.3 degrees Celsius -- or about 126 degrees Fahrenheit -- on Wednesday afternoon at a weather station in Mungeshpur, a suburb of New Delhi, according to the India Meteorological Department."
Looking through the WX models for "Feels Like" temps in India. 124F/51C in this particular spot. Curious what the WGBT would end up being there. #India#heatwave#WX#climateemergency
Delhi temperature hits 50.5C as India’s capital records hottest day
"Authorities warn of water shortages as temperatures reach nine degrees higher than expected...
At the SMS hospital in Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur, so many bodies of casualties of the heat have arrived at the mortuary that its capacity has been exceeded. Police in the city say many of the victims are poor labourers, who have no choice but to work outside, and homeless people."
Explained: Delhi has become heat chambers due to land and surface concretisation, leading to a heat multiplier effect. The urban heat island effect traps heat in the lower atmosphere.

Hmm... incoming #heatwave maybe for California -- at least, the computer models are definitely spitting out heat for the Central Valley and Northern California #CAwx

CNN: Temperatures in Pakistan cross 52 degrees Celsius — that’s more than 125°F
"Temperatures rose above 52 degrees Celsius (125.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh, the highest reading of the summer and close to the country’s record high amid an ongoing heat wave, the met office said on Monday.
Extreme temperatures throughout Asia over the past month were made worse most likely as a result of human-driven climate change, a team of international scientists have said. "
📈 Record Heatwave: Mohenjo Daro in #Pakistan 's Sindh province experiences temperatures above 52°C (125.6°F), nearing the country’s all-time high, which according to my records, is 53.5°C again in Mohenjo Daro (26/05/2010)🔥
📈 Record Heatwave
India is currently experiencing a severe #heatwave, with temperatures in Delhi reaching a record high of 49.9 Celsius (121.8 Fahrenheit). This is an all-time high for the city, significantly above normal. 🔥
The IMD has issued a red alert for northwest India due to a severe heatwave, indicating a high risk of #heat illnesses and advising extreme caution, especially for vulnerable individuals.
AP: Heat is killing howler monkeys in Mexico... "Meanwhile, an animal park in northern Mexico confirmed it has received reports that at least a hundred parrots, bats and other animals have died, apparently of dehydration...he number is likely only a small percentage of the animals affected...There are going to be a lot of casualties to the ecosystem if we continue this trend of heat waves in the region..." https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/heat-is-killing-howler-monkeys-in-mexico#heatwave#mexico#wildlife#MXwx#climate#climateemergency
"Wildlife biologist Gilberto Pozo attributed the deaths to a heat stroke, noting a “synergy” of factors — including high heat, drought, forest fires and logging that deprives the monkeys of water, shade and the fruit they eat — appeared to be to blame, while saying a pathogen, disease or other factor can’t yet be ruled out."
@minervakoenig i am so sorry to hear, from you and others, that it is so hot again, and so early in the year, too. Last year I kept on reading and worrying about #Texas and #Arizona. Just now i saw in this article that indeed there has been a 1000 % increase in #Heatwave mortalities! 290 homeless people in/around Phoenix last year. Just awful. I hope you are able to take good care of yourself.
Searing heat in India today.

"Global warming is bringing on a succession of negative effects on a range of marine creatures across #Japan, such as the relocated habitats of fish and fluctuations in #seafood catches.
Concerns are growing that the summer #heatwave expected this year as well may further exacerbate the situation.
The total seafood catch in Japan has been on a continuous decline."
