'I didn’t have white hair in those days,’ said Granny.
‘Everything was a different colour in those days.’
‘That’s true.’
‘It didn’t rain so much in the summer time.’
‘The sunsets were redder.’
‘There were more old people. The world was full of them,’ said the wizard.
‘Yes, I know. And now it’s full of young people. Funny, really. I mean, you’d expect it to be the other way round.' — Equal Rites
The scheduling gremlins have got us again - we’ve had to delay #Pratchat77, our previously announced short story episode about “Hollywood Chickens" and “From the Horse's Mouth”.
But we are embracing the chaos: our May episode will now be all about this year’s #TerryPratchettDay theme: “Start in the Wrong Place!”
So if your first #Discworld or #TerryPratchett novel wasn’t The Colour of Magic or the usual recommendations, tell us: where did you start?
“History unravels gently, like an old sweater. It has been patched and darned many times, reknitted to suit different people, shoved in a box under the sink of censorship to be cut up for the dusters of propaganda, yet it always—eventually—manages to spring back into its old familiar shape. History has a habit of changing the people who think they are changing it.”

Announcing the theme for Terry Pratchett Day 2024: START IN THE WRONG PLACE.
"Don't start in the right place!" they often say of #TerryPratchett's work. So, let's truly embrace the joy and chaos to be found in the many routes through #Discworld and beyond.
jk rowling: there are only four types of people in the world - smart, brave, evil and miscellaneous. a magic hat tells you which one you are when you are 11 years old, and it will never change
“He was never at ease with politics, where good and bad were just, apparently, two ways of looking at the same thing or, at least, were described like that by the people who were on the side Vimes thought of as ‘bad’.
It was all too complicated and, where it was complicated, it meant that someone was trying to fool you.”

Today I set out to memorize the titles of all the Discworld books in order. I've made it to twenty (Hogsfather, which was over of the first I read) so far.
All 41 book titles are now more or less memorized. I say "more or less" because there are still a couple (ok, 4-5) that are intermittently hard to recall. A little more practice should do the trick.
“There was, there always was, at the start and finish…the Code. They lived by the Code. You followed the Code, and you became part of the Code for those who followed you. The Code was it. Without the Code you weren’t a hero. You were just a thug in a loincloth.”

Nur Tod spricht in Großbuchstaben.
Bisher nutze ich es nur wenn etwas im text grafisch heraus stechen soll.
Etwas was mir auf Mastodon tatsächlich irgendwie fehlt.
