Too much cool new shit, that's my favorite luxury problem and it's what the past few weeks had in store, so a C-90 won't suffice this time. That, and also i totally had to add a ten-minute tune to the tracklist because why the fuck not? Dial A for fuzzed-out depravity and general mayhem. B for egg-ish dementia, quirky and forbidden fun and games for the whole family. C for darkness, death and despair. D for some beeps & bloops, followed by hits, hooks and melodies.

This is a bunch of cassettes I'm selling (I actually have two more cases of other brands for sale too 😅). I collected way too many of these things, so now I'm thinning out the herd. Feel free to reach out if you want to buy them, but I'm mostly just posting because people like to look at pictures of #cassettes sometimes.
Studio Update: A few weeks ago I was soliciting opinions about whether or not to get a Mac Mini to replace my ailing, nearly decade-old PC.
Opinions differed, leaning toward "yes but get more RAM than base model" and I had just about decided not to do it when I stumbled on a good video from a music tech vlogger I really like (video here: https://youtu.be/obkCMxaIIFM) who did exactly what I was thinking and had great results.
Was also randomly able to trade a bunch of used #cassettes locally for a new #monitor (which gave me the one big pain in the ass part of the upgrade; had a refresh speed mismatch that took me an hour or so to puzzle out), so I also have a newer, bigger monitor.
Still porting/backing up all my files from my old PC to my collection of hard drives and new #SSD storage, but otherwise have retired the old warhorse. Planning on cleaning it up and doing some minor repairs/upgrades...some day.
I picked up a pretty nice-looking CD/cassette player at the flea market and then I realized I got rid of most of my tapes from my last Volvo, so how am I going to test the cassette part? Except, wait, I still have one…
I’m trying to buy myself a cassette walkman to play cool independent releases and MC Hammer tapes on and man is hard to get something that works well!
So far I've bought three and all three have been duds.
I've tried a cheap one that plays okay unless you move it around at which point it's like the bass is being fiddled with. A mid-priced one that played in one channel only and a more expensive one that randomly mixes up the functions of the microswitched buttons. 😤
I know it's a personal thing but:
I'm impressed to know that there are more friends who are turning to digital music and throwing away their physical collection. No way!

Little MDMRN (turning 15 in May) has gotten into cassettes lately. My parent's got them, effectively, a Walkman with a built in speaker. They've been blasting their one cassette, Tally Hall's "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum" for a while.
I ordered them the Celeste soundtrack on cassette. I told them about it because it was supposedly 3 weeks out.
It's already shipping. They'll get it in less than a week from when I ordered it.
Hey, look what i found while digging through a pile of rusty tech artifacts at my local anachronism dump! It's what primitive 20th century people used to call a mixtape. Through careful analysis of the magnetic patterns encoded into the layer of ferric oxide on the tape surface, i was able to reconstruct the audio it contains. It's kinda noisy but the music is actually not too bad, i think. But then again, what the fuck do i know about this kind of ancient music anyway...
Good news! I finally got my shit together and stopped procrastinating blog stuff so in an uncharacteristic fit of diligence i eventually got around to posting another mixtape that's actually been languishing around here for like two weeks.

I found an old Nakamichi BX-2 cassette deck at the thrift store today. It wasn't cheap, but I went ahead and got it. I've always wanted a Nakamichi, and this one is in excellent shape. I believe the BX-2 was a sort of budget model of theirs. Sounds great! #CassetteCulture#CassetteTapes#Cassettes
