@BruceHalperin I saw over the weekend there is now a live GPS streetcar map. I thought I read something about them being out Sunday/Monday during tourist season --> https://streetcar.live
I was one of the last people allowed into the San Francisco Mexican consulate to vote this afternoon. I cast my ballot at 4:53PM and the doors closed at 4:59PM, with a few hundred people still waiting outside to vote. Some had been waiting for hours.
Things got tense. SF Police came and placed themselves between the consulate door and the attempted voters. Those inside were told we'd have to wait until the situation calmed down. I ended up leaving through the emergency exit leading to the alley.
Real unfortunate situation. A failure at every level.
"...51-year-old billionaire Hamdi Ulukaya (founder and CEO of yogurt maker #Chobani) said he’s reviving the #SanFrancisco brand in an Instagram video posted Friday morning."
@BruceHalperin do you know if the workers had good potential for being able to buy the company? I couldn't tell how realistic of a goal that was, but a co-op run brewery would have been amazing.
As much as I would have preferred the worker co-op to have won the auction, a big issue will always be distribution. In that case, I'd rather have an owner with some prior product experience.
San Francisco - where you can see a man walking towards you saying “I’ve never hated a btch more. I wish that btch would die” and not be sure if he is (1) talking to himself; (2) talking to the world; (3) talking to someone on his earbuds hidden by his hoodie. Whichever it is, he’s creepy and I definitely kept my distance until he went by. #sfba#SanFrancisco
In 1849 were people actually told that there was gold in San Francisco or did they know it was another 80 miles away after they got off the boat?
It sure would be a bummer to get all the way to San Francisco (pre-Panama canal) and then realize you had to go another 80+ miles up on the hills to even have a chance.
@Bronwyn Well, you remind me, never underestimate how much bull some people believe. You could be right. I have no doubt that was part of the sales pitch for people buying passage.
A genuinely thick fog is consuming San Francisco -- quite a rare event in these times. I'm standing outside accumulating moisture in my clothes and hair. #sanfrancisco
SAN FRANCISCO: A Black man who has been repeatedly targeted with death threats and racist threats and harassment finds that his S.F. home set on fire; his elderly parents rescued and sent to hospital. https://tinyurl.com/yck2xn6t#SanFrancisco
@katieonviolin the SF Small Business Coalition is spreading the myth that Valencia has the "first bike lane in San Francisco". The SFSBC are a driver-advocacy group fighting improvements to Slow Lake St, Valencia, 17th, and other streets. Their short-term goal is to have no bike lanes on Lake and revert the Valencia St bike lanes back to the unprotected (unenforced) lanes it used to have. So they are re-writing history to try to make fit their needs.
