Google has removed a video posted by academic researchers demonstrating how a newly discovered side channel in Apple's A- and M-series CPUs can be used to steal a password.

I thought for sure the removal was a mistake, but a Google representative told me the video was removed for violating a term of service barring "demonstrating how to use computers or information technology to steal credentials, compromise personal data, or cause serious harm to others."

Just to underscore how arbitrary and patently asinine Google's ToS enforcement is here, two additional videos the researchers posted demonstrating the same side channel remain available.

I wonder how researchers from #projectzero feel about this. Is there any chance any of them can intervene?

Lasst uns kurz mal über Blocken von Instanzen reden.

Jetzt bemerke ich aber gerade, dass ich Kontakte von kinky.business (Instanz mit >1K Usern) verloren habe.

Die Instanz ist offensichtlich von berlin.social geblockt. Das finde ich queerfeindlich und auch sonst problematisch, denn zu schnelle Blockfinger zerstören IMO das Netzwerk.

Gedanken?

@mina @admin Imho sollte das immer Transparent geschehen. Ganze Instanz blocken ist sicher ultima ratio. (Davor kann man ja noch muten etc.)

@mina @Jain Finds vorbildlich von @admin dass es gleich im /about ersichtlich ist und man nicht lange suchen muss.

Transparenz ist superwichtig - vor allem für uns User.

Da Selbstbestimmung und Wahlfreiheit im Fediverse zentrale Grundideen sind - kann das aber jeder Server handhaben wie er will.

    Would not recommend that Thing to any non-hacking user.

    Ich habe keinen guten/coolen Job.

    Ich bin nur eine sozial vereinsamte, vom System der Gesellschaft kaputt gemachte Person und weil ich #VonArmutBetroffen bin, bin ichvauch nur eine Belastung für eben jene Gesellschaft und werde überall gemieden und bekomme keine Chancen.

    Das ist traurige Wahrheit, die ich leider akzeptiert habe, auch wenn man es nicht sollte.

    Tesla opted out of Radar and is using image recognition only (cause it's cheaper). So i suspect that problem will be much worst for them.

    This tool lets me monitor the federation traffic from/to my Mastodon instance metalhead.club.

    You can clearly see the other server locations - mainly in the US and Europe.

    The tool is not ready for the public, but once it's finished and stable, I'll let you know :)

    Ich bin schockiert und ratlos. Mein Sohn (21) sagt er will die SVP wählen 🤦🏽‍♀️. Nun, ich wurde ein wenig wütend und er sagte darauf, dass er nicht der Einzige ist. Viele seiner Freunde würden diesmal diese Partei wählen. Die Rede ist von 20-23 Jährigen!
    Selbst meine Mutter (70) flehte ihn vor ein paar Tagen an nicht für diese Partei zu stimmen. Was ist da schief gegangen? Ich verstehe das einfach nicht. 😮

    @samsteiner @Nora Die Jungpartei der SVP ist leider schon seit langem die mit Abstand grösste Bewegung unter den Jungparteien in der Schweiz.

    Sie kopieren viele Propaganda-Taktiken direkt aus den USA - und das scheint "wunderbar" zu klappen.

    Ich fürchte die nächste Generation wird konservativer und nationalistischer...

    Optimismus ist schwierig in der heutigen Zeit voller Krisen - und das ist leider ein idealer Nährboden für Hasspropaganda.

    Hey Swiss people - do any of you know of someplace here in Switzerland that makes some kind of cool and possibly unique glass product/art glass?

    My brother back in the US is a glassblower, and I've long wanted to send him something special (carefully packed) from where I am.

    (Please don't suggest bongs, he makes enough of those on his own and the US authorities are assholes about them.)
