What I take away from the investigation & exposé is just how many people have to be COMPLICIT for this to go on for so very long.

Ever notice how many white men benefit from and ? Not just the few who are caught engaged in violence, but all those others who profit from it too much to bother dismantling its structures and institutions.

The skies over NYC are dull yellow, the air is yellow and it smells like a campfire.

It's cold, an unnatural chill in the air. I think this is due to a wildfire in Canada... but it feels so...

It seems that some parents worry about how to explain the existence of gay and trans people to their kids.

It’s trivially easy.

    @pbump CNN is broken. The WHCA dinner didn’t suggest they’ve learned anything. The NYTimes coverage of Trump’s “Town Hall” used alternating quotes from Dems and GOP without ever suggesting the GOP was different & RESPONSIBLE for Trump, DeSantis, and the fall of the Fourth Estate.
    And at WaPo, you seem to be carrying most of the weight in doing non-horse race political analysis.
    I’m not optimistic.

    Deer deliver in the strangest of places! If you find a fawn in your yard, leave it alone, do not touch, move or feed it. They have no scent and predators cannot find them unless humans interfere. Mom leaves during the day for 2 primary reasons: to feed, and to keep her scent away. Mom will return, but not until dusk and not if humans are around. If you discover the gift of a fawn enjoy the experience, and let the Mom do what comes naturally. Please share, thank you.

    The depressing thing about 2024 is that in the absolute best case scenario we'll have 4 more years of Joe Biden.

    There's so much that urgently needs to be moved on, from global threats like climate change and the destabilizing effects of wealth concentration, to smaller scale stuff (which I include my LGBTQ+ community's concerns in). Government has an inescapable role in all of it, and the very best we can hope for is not a radical shift to finally address all this, but just more Biden.

    @e_urq “The Democratic Party” is an enormous, diverse thing made up of many parts & people, both good & bad. As an Institution, it’s dysfunctional—symptom and cause of our dysfunctional country.

    But I think we often go too far in our condemnation of the Democrats because we really WANT that “PERFECT UNION” and all these many imperfections embarrass and discourage us from remembering the “MORE.”

    My point being that #HarmReduction remains an honorable goal.
