Nimarata is a beautiful name. It's also Nikki Haley's first name.

Every time racist and xenophobic people in her base see that her name is Nimarata, she loses voters. The name has no impact on non-racist/non-xenophobes.

Her performing anti-Blackness and transphobia to try to win the presidential seat, or help Trump get elected and win the Vice Presidential seat, is bad.

Not bringing up the name Nimarata, helps her maintain the white supremacists in her coalition. That is what I don't want.

Though I do think Biden should have paraded his middle name around more, as I understand from friends that “Joseph ROBINETTE Biden” would have basically tied up the Jamaican vote.

Honest question for white people that don't consider themselves racist:

White nationalists have been vocal about their attacks on DEI. These are literally the same people that talk about Charlottesville, Jan 6th, and ethnic cleansing.

They've laid out exactly how they plan to destroy DEI.

  1. Make false claims that DEI is about giving unqualified Black people an unfair advantage

  2. Work with racist politicians to use this as a pretext to make all DEI programs illegal.

A Penn donor talked about rescinding a $100 million donation, because Penn is improving its DEI and he didn't like that.

After Magill fell into the GOP trap by flubbing that answer, the donor rescinded the donation pending a new president.

Right-wing framing is that the new president will be someone that is "Not anti-semitic." Left framing is that the new president will be "Someone that speaks with clarity on protecting Jewish students." Both slightly off.

The new prez will likely be anti-DEI

@genxjamerican @mekkaokereke GT puts out fantastic engineers. Smart, hardworking, motivated, humane, and practical. I prefer GT, Purdue, RIT, RPI, and Northeastern engineers to MIT ones.

4/5 of those have their shit together with enabling recruiting. RPI produces good engineers, but the Career Dev people suck so badly that we won’t work with them. A dang tragedy.

@w7voa Is this where I mention that COPPA compliance when it comes to captured voice data is really really hard?

There’s adults who sound like children, minors whose voices deepen early, and overheard secondary backsplash just to name a few.

When you can positively identify a minor’s voice you absolutely need to lock that ish up under COPPA compliance, but the really hard part is those medium hypotheses where you can’t really tell based on the recording alone.

You may not even have to physically enter the library! I hold a #BostonPublicLibrary card that I use to borrow books in the Libby app (to send to my Kindle) and read periodicals in PressReader. And I’ve never been in a #BPL branch.

My humidifier turned bright green this morning. I’m cleaning it with citric acid solution per manufacturer instructions, but if I need to peroxide or C-brute the thing I will.

A dead-end tech company job was destroying my mental health. I HAD to bounce to prevent another round of long-term burnout setting in. I could already feel it nipping at the edges of my mind.

Keeping my mental health AND insurance for the household costs roughly as much as the mortgage each year. It's quite a burden.

Still, burnout is far more expensive by comparison.
