Bummed I missed out to see Professor Wes Marshall’s book event for "Killed by a Traffic Event" but it’s day 2 of trying to keep a migraine away. Tattered Cover and Barnes and Noble are already out of stock of the book. I am not buying from Amazon.

Just got back from taking Max for blood work. I won't be able to concentrate on anything until they call me in a few hours. He's got abdominal pain but is eating normally, etc., so we'll see.

Two things, for the record:

first, during my century ride I ate a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon sugar, syrup, and nuts, two bananas, two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, carrots, hummus, orzo salad, crackers, a stroopwaffel, a slice of pie with cookie dough ice cream, and a few bottles of gatorade. That I can recall.

Second, this is the condescending shit that gets you blocked.

I'm just passing on to you the advice that I received decades ago when I first had that experience. What you describe is absolutely the classic outcome when someone who is not used to cycling long distances tries to do so and does not eat correctly. There's a huge difference between 1000 miles spread across a whole year (which, btw, is not much at all and further suggests that you were not well prepared) and 100 miles in one day. On shorter rides you don't get even near the point of running out of ready energy. But on longer rides it's impossible not to run out of energy unless you make sure you eat enough. That's just a fact. But anyway, you do you. Riding 100 miles for the first time is an achievement. Well done.

The colorado republican party has endorsed a Democrat in a Democratic primary in my house district. If there wasn’t another reason for to support the incumbent Representative Hernandez among all the other reasons. I spoke with his campaign manager a few months ago when I was volunteering and brought up Right to Repair. He was a sponsor of the bill that was just signed.
