My new ADHD med dose went into prior authorization with my health insurance.

I was told this can take anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks and still be denied.

I think they are fighting it because the copay covers 2 pills a day, but he prescribed 4 pills a day to get me to 100mg a day.

If I use GoodRx, I can get a month's supply for less than my insurance copay, and get it tomorrow.

UGH at US health insurance.

@ashleyspencer I’m no expert but look into continuation of coverage and contacting your state’s insurance commissioner. The former may only be for cases where you change plans but it wouldn’t hurt to check. There’s also these folks who may be able to help, https://www.patientadvocate.org

Figuring out the length of spokes I need to rebuild my Sturmey Archer hub into a different wheel is harder than I was expecting.

There are a lot of online calculators, sure, but you have to disassemble your wheel to get the measurement the calculator needs.

I don't want to disassemble my wheel until I have the spokes for rebuilding it!

@MLE_online Mine aren’t long enough to measure flange spacing, but I place a piece of tape at the midline and then measure from that.

@MLE_online you don’t have to be super accurate, as small errors don’t add up to that much difference in spoke length.

@MLE_online to prove it, take a few measurements with an estimated error. now put those numbers into the calculators. you’ll get maybe a 1mm spoke difference at most.

Hey #actuallyautistic folks. What do you do for meltdowns with strong emotional and moral components, not just sensory?

I am hesitant to ask because mental health, trauma, and social and emotional dynamics are deep special interests of mine so I know a ton already, and I'm sensitive to being 'splained or talked down to right now.

But I also have some faith that the #neurodivergent community could give me some clear, practical tips and suggestions and I'm tired and alone.

Yeah? Thoughts?

im a software engineer

my first job out of college (after 14 months of unemployment) i made an hourly rate of $25/hr, through a 6 month contract position. a quick easy approximation is to multiply hourly by 2000 to get yearly, so that's analogous to a $50k/yr salary.

but back then, i was single. now im the sole earner for myself and my spouse, and both of us have a number of medical costs.

right now, im unemployed, but at my last job as a software engineer i made a salary of $82k/yr. it sounds like ive been moving up in the world, but per person in my family, that's $41k/yr. i was making less, even before bringing goddamn inflation into this.

and that's also not considering that the average salary for my position given my decade of experience, in my state, is $140k/yr. we would be perfectly fine on $70k/yr per person. that would be so life-changing it might alienate my friends. i was so underpaid, and upper management's excuse was that "we've had bad profits." nevermind they hired the new guy at $120k/yr. i was already job searching when i was fired.

fuck everything.

@rachaelspooky I’m so sorry. A friend of mine got laid off when the project she was on got under-bid. I’ve been looking as some of the people I work with have gotten promoted to their level of incompetence. My last raise was less than inflation. My boss justified by saying some got no raise.

Did you know that AAA now supports bicycles for their members? I hit a screw on my way home from work on Wednesday and got curious about this sort of thing after lugging my bike the last mile home with a flat tire. (Not fun, don't recommend)

It seems to vary by club/region but apparently I can call them to tow me/my bike as my usual service would cover for a car.

Erm, so when I open #Facebook at the moment it tells me I'm not connected to the internet and my computer slows all the way down and starts overheating.

It is only on my personal Facebook account - client accounts work fine.
The site won't work at all for me.

I tried downloading the Facebook messenger app but it says my login details are wrong (they are not).

Any ideas?

@alexisbushnell Which ad blocker? There are a lot of crap ones out there. It's also possible it's new enough malware the adblocker isn't blocking it. Finally, it could just be broken javascript on Facebook's part that for some reason is only called for some accounts/situations.

Many of you asked me about rings. I avoided bc they're tricky for me to make beaded and are size sensitive, I like everything on my shop fitting all sizes of humans. But I had an idea, what if I added stunning adjustable rings to my shop? They could be added to handmade sets or be offered individually, and fit all sizes of humans and have options for all genders as it is my mission for my shop to fit everyone who likes unique works.
