“Houses” are also an open technology but it’s very much not ok how landlords and other capitalists use it.

If you believe open standards and open source alone will protect you from the destructive force of capital, then you’re in for a harsh awakening. Or you could listen to all the people who have been harmed by or studied these mechanisms in the past already and learn something before it’s too late.

The anti-Meta #Fedipact can only achieve one thing: make sure that #ActivityPub loses to the Bluesky protocol. Is that what people here want?

As an #openweb advocate, I don't.

Meta joining the Fediverse is like AOL joining the internet: something that will bring a mass amount of people in, create some friction, but ultimately make the net better as more people federating on #Mastodon, #kbin, #lemmy, #pixelfed and other parts of the Fediverse make open protocols that much stronger.

It's so absurd that in post-apocalyptic movies and TV we almost never see people riding bicycles. Like, the ONE transportation technology that requires no gas, no electricity, no computers, is based on parts that can be locally fabricated, scrounged, or recycled. I demand representation of critical mass after the anthropocene.

@scanlime diode.zone is awesome. Your stream archives (the "weird embedded PC from the 90s" in particular) are a great inspiration for me as they show an unfiltered view on hacking which is a road with many dead ends and setbacks. The fact that you show the entire thing not just the end result is very valuable for me to combat my anxieties and keep chugging along. Thank you for that.

Like, dude, we are celebrating the anniversary of when butch lesbians, trans women, drag queens, homeless gay kids, and queer prostitutes chased cops into the Stonewall they were kicked out of -- AND THEN TRIED TO SET THE PLACE ON FIRE. With the cops inside.

I'm trying to figure out how that wasn't radical activism, but trans people asking for human rights is too radical. Fuck that.
