There are people who think the only thing we need to do to save America is defeat Trump. Everything else will take care of itself.

These people are tremendously privileged and seem to think everything is within 5% of perfection otherwise.

And some of them use this rhetoric to shut down any discussion of how to make things better otherwise. Because there will always be a Trump who takes priority.

And I have nothing polite to say to these people and they have nothing to say to me.

@gwynnion some people only see "baddies" and "goodies" as opposed to emergent properties of a system. Though, to be fair, those people are also emergent properties of a system of woeful education and thriving media moguls

I have avoided shorts for years, but if I'm going to keep overheating like this (evidence suggests yes) I'm going to need some.

Its always remarkable to me to think about Descartes and Galileo being contemporaries: so we know how the former reacted when the latter was imprisoned:

@purplepadma last three nights in a row, woke up with all sorts of ideas and had to read my ebook for more than an hour to get back to sleep. My only strategy is to genuinely not give a shit. That mostly helps

I tried to explain to Buddy and Henry that it isn't magic but the significant precipitation we've been having, leading to the seawater being less salty close to the shore, that explains why the sticks they try to retrieve keep sinking before they get to them

"Magic!", they both insist

I don't know why I bother trying to educate them
