@ai6yr I believe there were bigger up in Canada last summer. But it also depends what’s burning. Grass fires can be huge while a forest fire of the same magnitude would be a lot smaller.

I’m not in the fire business anymore, so I don’t know. @bud_t would be able to say things more intelligently.

@ai6yr I refinished my basement a few years ago with a whole set of their modular closet systems. The choice was to get the short ones which would leave an 8” gap on top or the tall ones which were half an inch too tall. I choose the latter and did a lot of very precise cutting and hole drilling. But the result is now that I have a flush-mounted wall of cabinets with sliding doors which fits perfectly in there. Fitting it though…

It’s been a hell of a day, for once, in the good way. 100 days after being laid off out of the blue from a job I loved and cared deeply about, I was offered and accepted a new job, with a shorter commute and a substantial raise to boot. Will I love this one the same way? Will I meet such interesting, stimulating people? I don’t know. The time off has been largely good for me, but I’m definitely ready to find out. #funemployment

I attended my daughter’s 6th grade trivia team regional championship today and could not be more proud.

@BoydStephenSmithJr You could more easily put powersats in a sun-synchronous low earth orbit and beam directly to the ground. But space based solar is kind of obsolete now that PV panels are so cheap and storage is getting there.

Now is the time on Saturday when I see pictures of my friends enjoying a huge dump of snow up in the mountains… and other friends stuck in horrendous traffic* on the highway getting to the mountains and think that maybe sleeping in and having a second cup of coffee is a mixed blessing.

*more horrendous even than usual.

Thanks to Specialized’s 40% off existing stock sale, I was able to buy much more bike than I’d hoped! First impressions: light, fast, plush. Can’t wait to take it on something more challenging.
