Thinking today about Rep. Adam Clayton Powell Jr., New York's first Black congressman (elected 1948.) His grandparents had been enslaved. In Congress, Powell proposed amendments prohibiting federal funding of any activity that racially discriminated. For years, his "Powell amendment" was purely symbolic--it never passed . . . They sued the state alleging that Montana's failure to consider climate change in decisionmaking violated their constitutional right to a healthy environment. I find it ironic that a "moral christian" could justify the state sponsored bullying and death of a non-binary high school student as a means of "keeping filth out of the state" when it is they who are immoral filth, promulgating violence and hatred against children.

This horrible man's words and behavior are evil. There is no other word for it.
