I am getting somewhat emotional reading about all the parts of S.220, An act relating to Vermont’s public libraries, which was signed by Vermont's governor today.

• empowers the Department of Libraries to develop model selection and retention policies for public libraries (PL)
• requires the DOL to provide Continuing Ed for public library staff (they do this already)
• extends enhanced penalties for criminal threatening in all PL
• lowers the age of patron confidentiality in PL from 16 to 12

Hi! Needles question.

I take EV 20mg/mL (call it 8 draws per vial), and I'm planning to order draw needles. I normally use 20 gauge and drawing up my .17mL shot is about 30 seconds to a minute, but the place I'm looking at only has 18 gauge and 21 gauge for the size and brand I want. I want a 100 count box, so before I blow 15-20 bucks on a size that is too big and rips up my stopper too much or really annoyingly slow, I wanted to know if anyone has opinions on 18 gauge vs 21 gauge needles?

The other day at work, in an online meeting, a fuckhead said the phrase “Well, it’s probably because she’s a woman and she doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about”, referring to an external contractor.

I’m not out, but I stopped the meeting and said “You don’t get to talk like that in front of me. Now, I have to call HR.”

There was laughter. To which I replied sternly, “It is not funny. Do better.”

There was no laughter then.

I don’t put up with that shit. Misogyny, any kind of trans- or queer- based phobia, racism. None. That’s how you ally - you speak up. You challenge the notion that these fuckers are in a safe place. You DO have power to create change. Be the voice for the voiceless.

Afterwards, two of the other attendees reached out to me to thank for my courage to stand up to one of the “cool kids”. I don’t need thanks, I need people to be better.

I'm starting to see kaftans as the omelettes of #couture #sewing. The simplicity is deceptive, and making a great one is not easy.

Aligning, and maintaining alignment, of big pieces of shifty, silky print fabric in a perfect rectangle requires extraordinary patience and time. Choosing the right spot to cut the fabric is an art unto itself. Almost all neck treatments require a lot of hand stitching. And French seams on the shoulders need mitering at the ends or they look ugly.

Sitting at a Pride planning meeting for my small town. Mostly listening. Their first Pride ever.

Some guy wanted to make sure it was going to find a way to keep out the - and I quote "sexual deviants" so the locals "don't judge the rest of us". And this old lesbian was like, "excuse me, I know gay men that have literally waited their entire lives for this, to be themselves in public. I know a lot who have died. Your going to kick them out?"

I've only known I was queer for a few years. I'm barely a local, only been here a decade. But no event where other queers are not welcome is Pride. And heteronormativity will not keep them from murdering us.

Like I know intellectually that most of my life is unchanged from two or three years ago but it all feels completely different and new.

Things in my life used to matter but now they MATTER. There were things I liked but now I love them. What used to trigger a hollow, abstract aesthetic appreciation (the best my heart could do then) now gets this glorious full-body joy.

Transition is magic.
