Where Peace Is Lost by Valerie Valdes.

Very different from her series starting with Chilling Effect, Where Peace Is Lost is much more serious. It reads as a quest to save a world, a journey or personal forgiveness, romance, and anti-capitalist philosophy. That's a lot to cram into 12 hours. It's all well done though, not seeming patchwork at all. Thus I zoomed through the story in two days.

    In their submission on the 2023 #Accessibility for New Zealanders Bill before New Zealand Parliament, Susan Williams told of the difficulties that they have as a blind person in accessing their money when financial services are only designed for sighted people. Please read the first few pages of Susan's words to get an idea of the barriers they face in trying to lead a full life.

    @dgar it may be worth noting in your post, that your playlists aren't the same as the regular NZ initiated #JukeboxFridayNight event run each Friday night, NZ time.

    There's a different topic or two each Friday night for sharing music videos. It's great if people sharing music videos can include song title and artist(s) in text for blind, low vision and neurodivergent followers as in video links aren't always readable.

    Politicians’ salaries should be index linked by law to ordinary people’s income levels. It can be set at a higher levels, but it should rise (or fall} in line with everyone else.

    UK Court case finds inadequacies over its and choice of Microsoft app together meant driver racially discriminated against and denied work. "Upgraded" app couldn't recognise driver because of darker skin tone so denied him work. This could happen in any country using these apps.

    @dave Many predictable and irresponsible actions by governments cause pain and suffering but seldom for those who make the decisions.

    Similar to cutting public services and impact on NZ economy. Or loosening (health and safety) regulations preceding an increase in accidents. Or increased young people's use of vapes after access made easier ....

    Mistakes happen but does anyone ever learn? 😢

    @dave People who are community minded will care. People with more individualistic (selfish) mindsets will only care if it happens to them or costs them something.

    Community minded people may need to brush off economic and financial skills to show how things will affect event those who manage to avoid bad things.

    That's also easier said than done as many of us are exhausted. Finance Minister Nicola Willis has said she doesn't want CTU economist's "reckons" ... She'd rather be blindfolded 🕶️
