@dancinyogi I extend the same courtesy to kids. I never talk down to them. No baby words (doggie, bunny, tummy), no talking about myself in the third person. I’ll change my vocabulary settings to Easy, but that’s about it. As far as I’m concerned, I’m talking to a miniature adult.

@grammargirl To a certain degree, yes. One has more routine pages and services open (email, docs, time sheets, etc.) while the other is more task-based (Jamf, Trello, etc.). With two monitors I’ll put each window in a different one and work from both. That’s especially important to me when creating documentation, doing self-paced training, and other stuff.

Time is precious - not just yours, but the people you may hire to perform a service. If you're late or need to reschedule, unless there's an emergency, take five seconds to fire off a text when you know you'll be late. It gives the other person a heads-up, and it's common courtesy. Personally, I'll be ok with this in a non-emergency situation once. After that? No.

Have respect for time - everyone's time.

    @T Having done phone support for six years in a global corporation, I can tell you that there are records of all calls that come in, but (a) they create and control the contents of those records, and (b) for them to mean anything, they have to care about them. My old company also recorded the audio of each call and would review random calls for the proverbial “quality control purposes”, but then we’re back to item (b). Those call reviews were decidedly few and far between.

    I make the same mistake every year. You would think I'd learn.

    I have exercise-induced asthma in the Fall and Winter. The ONLY thing that triggers it is going immediately from the cold to a dry, warm, heated house. I have to cool down and stop breathing heavily before going inside. I forgot! Went directly inside and started wheezing. I do this EVERY YEAR after the first cold run!

    @dancinyogi I got that when I was running. My doctor gave me an inhaler. It was a game changer.
