A mid-winter sunrise over a spruce boreal forest in Fairbanks, Alaska. I love that bit of Arctic blue peeking through the clouds!

Possibly my favorite photo I've ever snapped. Squirrel looking adorable with a bit of snow on her nose.

i long for those snowy new york winters and the old amber streetlights of yore that managed to leave the night feeling even more mysterious.

The Serpent River is in some parts free of ice but some is still hanging in there. More frost to come though.

Hey friends! I finally wrote about my second attempt to get a #photo of the frozen #waterfall

Unfortunately, it wasn't THAT frozen anymore - but ... wasn't it even better?! I wrote down the story in my blog and this time I also uploaded the photo to FineArtsAmerica if you think about having a print of it.

My gf told me I’m obsessed with stories about people stranded in snow. I don’t know what she means.

Hi friends!

The last two from my photowalk in January! I rarely do macros but that day I wasn't out for hiking but really for . So I thought, I could also step down into the frozen stream, take some time and look for tiny structures.

Needless to say that I was super happy that I witnessed this frozen , right? It was really amazing. Especially as I also remember it in the rain!

Enjoy!

This captivating image showcases the serene beauty of a frozen waterfall nestled amidst a winter landscape. The scene is enveloped in a blanket of snow, emphasizing the season's quiet and peaceful ambiance. Dominated by shades of grey and white, the photograph presents a harmonious blend of the winter's chill and nature's grace. The waterfall, now a sculpture of ice, becomes the central figure, surrounded by snow-covered trees that stand as silent guardians of this secluded spot. The stream that once cascaded freely is now stilled, encapsulated in ice, contributing to the scene's frozen tranquility. The landscape, a testament to the season's power to transform, is a mesmerizing view of winter's cold embrace, where the natural world pauses in a state of suspended animation. This image, a celebration of the season’s stark beauty, invites viewers to marvel at the quiet majesty of a winter's day, where nature's movements slow, and its landscapes are reimagined in ice and snow.

This is the Red River of the North that divides and , seen from Edgewood park today in . We took advantage of todays snow storm to finally strap on the snowshoes. This record warm hasn't provided plentiful opportunities for outdoor fun. But today was a good time.

For #MountainMonday - The moon rises over Mount Blanshard from Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada.

I wasn't planning this, but apparently others were (back in 2008) as I recall photographers in small groups along the side of the road waiting for the moon to rise. I had no idea what that might be about until it came up over the mountain.
