t's hard to believe that this young couple is us, 42 years ago today. There's been a lot of water under all kinds of bridges since then, but we have sailed, paddled, rowed, poled and occasionally motored along them together all the way. Yes, we've had to use buckets to bail at times, but we always managed to stay afloat because we had each other. Thanks for all these wonderful years, @stevenkennard

#ClimateDiary contemplating this image of a bride wading through flood water in church- a still from this Report on the aftermath of #Typhoon#Doksuri in the #Philippines.
This is not at all a comment on the actual people in the picture - i hope they had a good #wedding! - but taking it as a metaphor it’s made me think about human #Resilience and #Pluckiness but also about #BusinessAsUsual, no matter what. And the minutiae of what living with #ClimateChange entails
Good friends are getting married on October 23 and they've created a playlist for the reception's music that anyone can add to. We've added a few suitable songs, but we need one song that is entirely inappropriate to slip in there.
Please provide your suggestions for the least appropriate song for a wedding!
Well, that's one way to handle extreme weather (just ignore the typhoon/flooding outside, dear): BBC: "Watch: Bride walks down flooded aisle after typhoon... A couple in the Philippines have pressed ahead with their wedding, despite flooding in the wake of Typhoon Doksuri on Sunday. Guests and family members could be seen wading through floodwaters in gumboots and sandals at the Barasoain Church in Malolos. It's actually an old book - I wrote it over 20 years ago. The publisher went out of business, the rights reverted to me, and decided to indie publish a revised expanded edition. Out on 21 June.
It contains rituals for alternative weddings, happy funerals, liberating divorces...
Yall, we did it!!! It was everything we hoped for and more. This past week has been the most fun I’ve had my entire life. Our friends are the best friends in the world.
Oh… and there’s most definitely some juicy stories.
A young #Palestinian couple on their #wedding day. Just a small ceremony in an improvised tent, no #family gatherings, no celebration, everyday jeans for the groom, no real wedding dress for the bride, three red roses as bridal bouquet. No honeymoon - just the fear of loosing each other every minute. [Picture by Khalil.]
What happened to dancing at weddings?
I was born and raised in America, and for some reason I have this classic notion in my head that people should be dancing at weddings....
