There is a lot of reasons to love Mastodon and the Fediverse. One of them is the lack of algorithmic content. It does take a bit longer to get going and build up content providers, but not having a feed full of crap is all worth it!
It is time to invite more of your friends to join us. Invite to your current server or you can invite them to Vivaldi Social! Help them get going. They will thank you!

Okay, this getting frustrating. I'm on the Vivaldi Social instance but when I use the instance in the Vivaldi browser, if the instance sits idle for a few hours, it locks up and then crashes the browser. It can stay idle all day in Firefox and works fine when I come back to it. And again, like a few times in the past, I can no longer see Vivaldi (or tag them) here on Mastodon. I can see others on the instance just fine. I can't even reach out to them about the issue. This is why I've tried other instances in the past but moving to a new instance just pisses people off. Trust me, I've receive a few unpleasant messages about the move and then requesting a new follow.
@cmccullough Strange. I use #Vivaldi for everything, including having Mastodon in an open tab 24/7/365. It doesn't lock or crash the browser. I'm tagging @Vivaldi here in this message. Maybe they've got some silver bullet for you?
Vivaldi 6.6 brought you the opportunity to personalize your Start Page with Custom Wallpapers on Android. ✨
Tap on the Vivaldi menu button, go to Settings, Start Page Wallpaper, and select one of our preloaded wallpapers, or add your own image from your photo gallery. 🤩
Have you tried it yet? Show us what it looks like! 👇🏻
@vivaldi Sadly as much as my move from the desktop version of #Chrome to #Vivaldi have been a resounding success, the same cannot be said for Vivaldi mobile.
Sync works really well but unfortunately it renders a lot of pages innacurately in both mobile and desktop modes. I'm on the latest Samsung flip, running the latest update. It's unusable for a lot of sites which means I'll have to find a different daily driver on mobile.
The status bar in @Vivaldi is a treasure trove. Here are a few things you should have a look at!
The page capture function is very useful. You can capture any part of Vivaldi or you can capture the whole page. I use this a lot.
The image and animation toggle allows you to turn off image loading and reduce animations.
The page tiling button is for tiling pages. The easiest is to start with a tab stack and then tile it.
The page actions button lists a set of page actions you can use to change how the page looks. Examples include various filters and transformations.
The zoom function is easily accessible in Vivaldi and unlike other browsers, we zoom the current tab by default, instead of the domain, meaning it is easy to change the zoom on all pages in a tab for a while.
The clock is useful for seeing the time, but it also has a nice timer.
This is all in the right corner. In the left corner you find the pause button...
It always gives us immense joy to know how each of you use the Vivaldi browser, what you think of it, and how we can make it better for you.
We’re eager to know how you personalize Vivaldi to suit your needs with custom themes, tab management hacks, and everything that makes the browser uniquely yours.
Nick Zorn, who’s tried many browsers, shares how our browser in particular has helped boost his productivity drastically.👇
Since last night I'm giving #vivaldi browser a try. So far great experience, uses much less memory than FF, integrated RSS reader, vertial tabs by default and side panels are a real plus.
Is it still true that Vivaldi is owned by their employees?
Ok finally off chrome and gone to Vivaldi. Have also gone to duck duck go as my search engine.
Decrapification step one completed.
It's only been one work day but delighted with Vivaldi and duck go is capable.
Unfortunately cannot decouple from Microsoft for mail, collab, etc. We need to support clients and unfortunately have to eat the same dogfood. #Vivaldi
I was very vocal about my attempted, and failed migration from #Chrome to #Firefox as a browser. I've given #Vivaldi a chance and have been very pleasantly surprised. The performance matches my expectations and a lot of it's unique features are time savers, especially workspaces which is a better alternative to tab groups in Chrome.
So no tracking, as good or better performance, and great feature alternatives. So far it's checking all the boxes.
The Home button and Panel button are back on Android!
After the release of Vivaldi 6.6 on Android we got to see first-hand how much you care about your browser. You raised your voice and shared your opinion with good reason.
We made a mistake.
You made it clear to us that the removal of the Home and Panel buttons, for those with the address bar at the bottom of your screen, was not something you wanted.
That's why, as of today, both buttons are back.
Our mission is to build a browser that adapts to you, and to do this we rely on feedback from everyone who uses our products.
I don't know how I've managed to ignore @Vivaldi browser for so long. I had it in my mind the browser wasn't great with privacy protection. I was wrong about that. Been playing with it today and it not only excels at privacy, the customization and user experience are off the charts.
We at @Vivaldi continue to be the only browser company all in on Mastodon and the Fediverse.
We have made our own instance, Vivaldi Social. Any user that has a Vivaldi account for sync or other services, can easily enable a presence on Vivaldi Social.
We have integrated Mastodon as a Web panel into Vivaldi.
We include links to Vivaldi Social into Vivaldi.
We also work on integrating our blogs and forums into the Fediverse.
We hope others will follow. Mozilla has talked a lot and we hope they will join us fully soon.
@jon@Vivaldi I tried Vivaldi for the first time tonight on Linux Mint and I'm blown away. It's genius to include email, calendar, notes, RSS feeder all in one. By far, the most customizable, and privacy-driven browser I've ever used. I just installed it on my Android phone. #vivaldi#browser
It is quite interesting. I am kind of thinking that a platform should be thankful for developer support, but Apple is making it very clear that all of us should be thankful for the privilege of our apps being allowed on their platform. They have spent so much time making APIs and the like, so they need to be paid for that by application vendors. Seems like they are not making enough from selling phones. They must be struggling.
Yesterday, at home, I was able to use #Vivaldi 's built-in adblocker fine on Youtube. Come in to the office today, and I had to shut it off because videos are inaccessible. #UBlockOrigin and #PrivacyBadger by #EFF work just fine though.
I'd love to not have to use other extensions, but looks like we're not quite there at the moment.
