A band called 'Death' was punk before punk was punk
Formed in Nov. 71' by the 3 Hackney brothers, they were influential pioneers of the genre and, along with Pure Hell, the first all-black proto-punk/punk band.

PS: I must admit, that I don’t know much about mc5 and don’t know their music - but I will change that. I just discovered their photo chronicler Leni Sinclair, who flew from east Germany to Detroit in the 60ies, married the mc5-manager and shot great pictures of them, of Iggy, of Martin Luther King etc.
