My friend @richSimcox made this nice video juxtaposing orange protest paint on a snooker table, and orange air in a city, with a soundtrack of someone's response to one or the other of those events.
Can you tell which they were responding to?
I liked it.
Which will get more engagement? My re-post here, or his on the site where the algorithm suppresses the kind of memes that it's owner doesn't like?
In its new report on hate and extremism in 2022, Southern Poverty Law Center notes that Proud Boys "targeted more than 40 LGBTQ events in 2022 through harassment or protests."
It was worse than that: Crowd Counting Consortium saw Proud Boys at 58 anti-LGBTQ+ events last year, and they continue to turn up at them in 2023.
What struck me most about those who rioted was how long they waited. The restraint they showed. Not the spontaneity, the restraint. They waited and waited for justice and it didn’t come. No one talks about that.
Every single protest I hand my expensive ass bullhorn off to complete strangers and it always comes back to me. Every protest I prepare for the fact my speaker or the PA system could get damaged or potentially stolen. It doesn't happen. Kids were spray painting right next to me yesterday and being careful not to get paint on my set-up. Ethical vandalism. Carry on bro. And—while I was standing in the middle of a ratchet intersection block party—a sweaty protester in a mask came up to me and handed me a car key he found in the chaos. Then he want back to dancing. Ten minutes later a distraught woman came up and asked if anyone had returned a car key. Her lucky day.
Anytime something of mine has been lost, broken, or stolen at a protest it's been by the police. And I've been at some WILD fucking protests.
@Chromino Funny you mention that! Have you not already heard one of the largest protests will be happening all pride month! SHARE SHARE SHARE! This will be huge! :BlobhajPrideHeart:

This headline is remarkable in its own right, but I'm also cogitating on the fact that this is more arrests than we've seen so far for J6 (last report I saw was a couple of months ago, and it put that tally at "over 1,000").

Anti Strikes Bill in Parliament tonight. I've never heard of the Henry V111 clause. If Bill passed, clause allows power to move to the 'executive' to add any future amendments. Authoritarian and a full attack on Workers' rights and their Unions. Emergency TUC protest tonight Parliament Square from 6pm.
‘Green colonialism’: Indigenous world leaders warn over west’s climate strategy
"World Indigenous leaders meeting this week at an annual #UN summit have warned that the west’s climate strategy risks the exploitation of #Indigenous territories, resources and people.
New and emerging threats about the transition to a greener economy, including mineral mining, were at the forefront of debate as hundreds of Indigenous chiefs, presidents, chairmen and delegates gathered at the 22nd United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues."
