Roomsharing can be done following safe infant sleep guidelines, which includes:
Placing the baby to sleep on a firm, flat sleep surface; in their parents’ room for the first 6 months on a separate sleep surface designed for infant sleep, close to the parents’ bed
Keeping the baby’s sleep space free of soft objects, such as pillows and loose bedding
Tonight is supposed to be my twin 9 year olds' first softball game, but the weather has been so wet, I have a feeling it'll be cancelled. We shall see.
If it is, and it's not raining, I'll try to practice with them a bit tonight.
shining a flashlight under your teenager's bed 😱 #parenting
13yo: [putting vacuum away, again...]
me: "you're not done yet"
13yo: "Yes I am"
me: [looking for 2s] "are you kidding me, there's a carrot down here" 🤦
🙏 Please help mastodoners.
👀 I'm looking for cool #educational#games for my 7 and 9 years old boys.
The games need to be online on installable on Ubuntu. Without publicity please. I'm willing to pay if good quality like #tocaboca games.
I already have #minecraft and #hourofcode and a bunch of old, not so fun, games.
Good morning and Happy Saturday! May the Fourth be With You this Star Wars Day.
Also, today my oldest turns 15 years old. 15 years ago, my wife was on her fourth week of hospitalized bed rest and I was training the person who would fill in for me on paternity leave. I got the call and rushed to the hospital. 10 weeks early, my oldest was born via an emergent C-section.
15 years later, here I am with this snarky, smart, creative, and empathetic kid. And I'm about to take them and 4 of their friends to the zoo.
Skill wise, obviously I'm taking some ranks in Patience. I've got 4 kids with one teenager (and this summer a second one), so of course need more of that. Also, a few ranks in Dad Joke, since I take that every level.
I took Dual Wielding years ago, but I do get another feat this level. I think I may take the Truth Seeker feat, to make sure I get a bonus on my rolls at figuring out what my kids are doing and/or plotting.
Going forward I think I'm going to have to ditch my #Videogame podcasts that don't feature at least one host with a kid.
Listening to twenty-somethings that have almost unlimited time and basically no responsibilities is just too unrepresentative of my own experience with life that I really struggle to relate or even enjoy their output.
I've really been enjoying the @crossplayblog podcast called #SpawnPoint, but I refuse to believe that's it for Gaming Parents?
This week has been...weird. Between unnerving doctor's appointments (I have another today), busy evenings with the kids, a call from the school about my oldest getting hit with a tennis racket, and my oldest's birthday tomorrow - this week has been...odd.
Oh, on the tennis racket - my oldest tried to break up an altercation and accidentally got smacked with a tennis racket in the process.
So, it's been a week.
Tonight into tomorrow is my oldest's birthday party. So - bonus kids all night / into tomorrow.
No one tells you that a surprisingly large part of being a dad to a preschooler is repeatedly trying to super glue back together all kinds of different toys and materials.
My children have (EU) shoe sizes 26 and 31; but like some magician's trick, they can contain a Sahra's worth of sand. If I pull out the insole, and hold the shoe upside down, there's a solid, continuous pour of sand for about 5 minutes.
Today is my daughter's birthday. And among other things, we'll offer her a kalimba. At 3 she got a ukulele. At 1 a percussion set. I can't explain why (🙄), but she seems to like music 😄
Oh and of course my son got his own percussion set for his first birthday, and my parents offered him something with a xylophone, a cymbal and a small drum and he's almost never leaving his drumsticks, I feel like having a tiny version of a drummer at home now! #parenting#prouddad
Kiddo #1, talking on the phone about her day: "..... ...... ................... .................... ............, and then, like, they are all "Ooooooooooh, I have a sharpened stick!"
Me, from two rooms away: "Hey! Are you finally reading "Lord of the Flies" in school?"
I have half day at work, followed by a Dr appointment. This evening then my 12 year old is being inducted into the Junior National Honor Society, which is awesome! After that (or during it, kind of), my youngest two have softball practice. And I've turned into an assistant coach (long-ish story). So, I'll be heading over to that afterwards.
"On top of the sleepless nights, the endless hours to fill, and, yes, all that joy, raising a kid is one long experience of loss. We lose the 1-year-old with his arms outstretched to be picked up, the 4-year-old bravely marching to his first day of preschool, the 6-year-old who just wants to snuggle on the couch and watch Bluey. They’re replaced by new people we can’t wait to meet, but the ones they were, the ones we knew and loved, they’re gone forever."
No officer I swear the Tasmanian Devil and Stitch didn't have a litter of feral puppies in our apartment, you see tis just that the child wants a sip of water before sleep
If I'm a good father, my kids will need me less and less, but know I love them fully and will also be here for them. If I'm a good husband, my wife will love me more and more as the kids start to move on.
I also realize, I am influencing my kids choices less and less as they get older, and I'm cool with that. All I can do now, is know that I have loved and supported them from the start and always will, no matter what. Where they go from here, is becoming all them.
Alors aujourd'hui, c'est la mission ➡️ installation du système d'exploitation Primtux sur le vieux PC de mon conjoint pour kid N°1.
J'ai préparé la clé pour le boot.
Jusqu'ici, tout va bien.
With my kids getting a bit older I'm starting a MAJOR purge of kids' toys. Getting rid of all the off-brand building sets and dinky cars & other stuff the kids don't play with. Hoping to end up with only 1 shelving unit of toy bins in a closet and.... NO more toybox. 😱
No miscellaneous-toys toybox is a major #parenting milestone.😁
I realize that the sweet situation with all 3 boys in 1 bedroom (like a dormitory lol) won't last much longer. But I'm enjoying it while I can until the play room & my office eventually get swallowed by teenagers. 😆
